2. INTRODUCTION In order to know better about visual deficiency we interviewed Mr.JoãoLuiz Lanes who is blind since he was a child. He is 66 years old. He lives at Bethânia in Ipatinga.He is married and has four children and seven grandchildren.See our interview.
3. How did you become blind? I became blind when I was three, due to two diseases I had.The measles and paralysis. What do you do? I do not consider it a job.I have a called from God.I take people God`s words.
4. If you did not have this job what other work would you do? If I werenotanevangelistanddidnothaveanydeficiencyI wouldbe a pilotor a lawyer. Have you ever suffered any prejudice?What can we do to change it? Theblindpeople in general sufferprejudice.The media should do some campaign to getpeopleawareaboutblindnessandtheprejudiceagainstblindpeople.
5. Didyoustudy?Where? Yes,I studiedat Instituto Bejamin Constante in Rio de Janeiro. Does thegovernmentofferwhatthe visual deficientsneed? Theyoffer some things.Theeducatinalsytem is weak.Theschoolsdon`t haveany Braille materials.
6. Howdidyoumeetyourwife? I wasdoing a work atherchurchandherfriendalwayssaidthatshewould date me.I alwayswanted to marry a womanwhohadlonghair.Dolcehadandwe are married for 38 years.
7. Due to ourinterviewed`s idea.Nowadays in Ipatinga the visual deficientshavetheopportunityofbeingstudyingandhaving a goodfuture.Ipatinga didnothave a specificschool for blinds.Sohestarted to listtheblindswhowanted to studyandthenwent to themayorandaskedhim to build a specialclasswithallneedy Braille equipment.
