 Plants and trees release oxygen back into the
    air which is the air we breath.
   They also filter the air we breathe by
    removing dust and particulates.
   Trees give animals and other wildlife places
    to live.
   Trees also make good wind blocks, they help
    control wind direction.
   Also they help reduce flood, they absorb a
    lot of rain fall and store it.
 Plants and trees make their own food. They take water
  from the ground, gas from the air (carbon
  dioxide), and sunlight and turn it into food and
  oxygen.
 This process is called Photosynthesis, and it is very
  important to our everyday lives. It produces the
  chlorophyll in the leaves which gives them their green
  color in the spring and summer months.
 Why are plants and trees so important?
 They give off oxygen (the air we breath)
 What are some benefits of plants and trees?
 Moderate climate, improve air quality (removing dust
  and dirt), provides homes for wildlife.
 How do plants produce their food?
 photosynthesis
 The leaves will stop making food
  (photosynthesis)When daylight decreases and the
  temperature decreases. The leaves are known as the
  food making factories of the tree. They produce the
  chlorophyll.
 Chlorophyll- green pigment found in most plants.
 When leaves stop making food and the chlorophyll
  breaks down.
 When the chlorophyll breaks up it causes the colors to
  show through
 Colors of the leaves and brilliance depends on the
  weather each season.
 Warm sunny days and cool crisp nights (not freezing)
  seem to bring the most spectacular fall displays.
 This is because lots of sugar is produced and the cool
  nights close the veins so the sugars are trapped.
 Leaves start to change colors when?
 When daylight decreases and the temperature drops.
 What makes leaves green?
 Chlorophyll- green pigment in plants
 What plays are role for more brilliance in the fall
  color?
 Warm, sunny days and cool, crisp nights.
 There are 3 types of pigment colors.


 Chlorophyll, carotenoids, and anthocyanins.


 Colors are from the food trapped in the leaves, and the
 browns are from the wastes left.
 Carotenoids produce yellow, orange, and brown colors.
  These are also colors in carrots, corn, and daffodils.
 Anthocyanins are the red colors. These pigments are
  also in red apples, cranberries, strawberries, and
  plums.
 These colors show when the leaves stop producing
  chlorophyll it starts to break down.
 What colors do the carotenoid pigments make?
 They make the orange, yellow, and brown colors.
 What colors do the anthocyanin pigments make?
 They make the red and purple colors.
 When do the colors start to show on the leaves?
 When the leaves stop producing chlorophyll and it
 breaks down.
 In conclusion there is a lot more involved with the
  leaves changing colors on the trees during our autumn
  season than people realize.
 The changing of scenery is not just for the pleasure of
  the human eye, it is a big process of the cycle of life for
  our plants in trees on the planet.
