2. Background Information Song is called Heard ‘Em Say. It was written, sung/rapped and produced by Kanye West and Adam Levine It was released on Kanye West’s album Late Registration in 2005. We chose the song because we thought it had a thoughtful and soul provoking meaning, as well as a really nice melody accompanied Adam Levine’s beautiful vocals.
4. Lyrical Message The song reflects on social issues, politics and the changing world. The title of the song Heard ‘Em Say refers to the unfulfilled promises that are made to humans each and every single day by politicians and other leaders. Therefore it is referring to everything he has “heard them say”. The first verse of the song discusses issues such as increasing minimum wage, how the government created aids and how people have been mislead by the constant reassurance that things will get better when, in reality things are becoming worse. He later refers to how there are so many materialistic things that we see in society, and although we dream about wanting them they are all allusions.

6. He describes how people are on pursuits to change their lives and attitudes for the better, but evil and temptations exists inside of them and that devil represents the greed and selfishness in human beings.
