Teaching Strategies For Menopausal Women
Teaching Strategies For Menopausal Women

During your course of study in the M.Ed. program you have examined issues relating to ethics in the educational setting and the importance of promoting diversity. In a one- to two-page paper reflect upon what you have learned throughout your coursework related to ethical issues in education, and discuss the fundamental manner in which your ideas, values, beliefs, practices, and etc. have or have not changed as a result. Working for Early Head Start in Springfield, Illinois, I had the pleasure of working with many different nationalities. Each month, I invited a different family to come and speak to our class and share some traditions and items from their where they live. The students loved listening to other families and the families enjoyed sharing their heritage with the students. I learned that incorporating other history into our classroom made the parent/care giver more willing to participate and give back to the classroom. One particular lesson plan, one of my Hispanic families came to teach our children how to count and speak and spell their name. The children were excited to go home and teach their parents. Listening to some of the parents share their beliefs as well as stories that may go on back in their country it gave me more respect for my country. For my future position, I will still incorporate different ethnicities into my lesson plan and have different families come into the classroom and share their history. One thing that I have also thought about is having a different type of bring your parent to school day. This will allow the parent/child to see what actually goes on in a child’s classroom. This will also allow the parent to interact with their child and their child’s friends. This will also promote a positive learning environment for the student. Identify and describe at least three main strengths in relation to the theme of your portfolio. Three main strengths that stick out to me are resilience, being able to incorporate, and being self-motivated. Resilience is being able to recover quickly. Being an educator Resiliency should be a vital strength. Being an educator and having the ability to recover from a bad day at school requires determination. Educators have to wear more than one hat in the classroom while trying to educate their students. Educators have to deal with more disciplinary problems in the classroom. Being able to recovery from dealing with a behavior issue and still maintain your classroom has become very challenging. Incorporation- Children are learning in many different ways. It is the Educator’s role to incorporate and reach each student so that they can learn. One thing educators are now seeing a lot more of are, children with more learning disabilities. It has been more stressful for educators to research and learn different learning styles and find learning resources for their students. Being Self-motivation sometimes is not as easy as we would like for it to be. Especially being a educator. I ...

Edit Submission: u05a1 Partial Reflective Journal Unit One Reflection For this week’s journal entry reflect on your teaching experience. In both the Marzano and Jones textbooks, the authors stress the importance of focusing on classroom policies and procedures at the beginning of the school year in order to achieve a good start. How closely do you attend to the types of procedures discussed by these authors and what might you do differently in terms of planning and instructing in the future as a result of the readings? I work with students who are only assigned to my caseload; therefore I’m not closely involved in school wide/teacher planning. However, at times I participate in Intervention meetings with the Principal, Assistant Principal, teacher(s), School psychologist, School social worker and sometimes the parent. During the meetings, I offer strategies for classroom management behaviors. If a student is a candidate for ADHD or any disability, I arrange for psychological testing to assess whether possible ADHD or emotional factors are interfering with the student’s academic performance, provide feedback to the parents, and school officials regarding the psychological evaluation. I also consult with parents and school officials about designing effective learning programs for intervention strategies that build on his strengths and compensate weaknesses. Unit Two Reflection The "Dealing with the Dilemma of Gum Chewing" case study provides an example of how we can teach productive behaviors. After completing this week's reading, reflect on where this type of strategy might apply in your setting. •Have you encountered situations in your setting where this approach may be more productive than what you have been doing? In the Kindergarten class, the students continue to struggle with picking up cut paper. Instead of having the students cut paper, the teacher showed the class how to fold the paper and use the edge of their desk to cut. After several times of redirecting, the students were able to begin using the scissors again. The students developed a system in the class where 1 person from each table (red, blue, purple, yellow) collects the paper straps. •What are the ethical issues involved in establishing expectations without teaching the appropriate expected behaviors? Ethical issues continue to be an ongoing issue today in schools and without providing detailed expectations teachers leaves room for issues and concerns. Misinforming, consents, students getting hurt, etc. could happen. Students could always say they were not informed and the responsibility falls back on the teacher. I think in this situation communication is vital. Unit Three Reflection During Unit 2, you designed Mini-Intervention 1. For this unit's journal reflection, take time to reflect on how well or how poorly the intervention is working. Reflect on your learning’s so far in the course in the area of managing unproductive behaviors. Long Term goals were identified t ...

Running Head: MY PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING 1 My Personal Philosophy of Teaching Introduction Education is a continuous process that accompanies and goes through the whole life of man, where the role of the teacher is to help the student to do himself. So; education as a frames process is very complex, because it seeks nursing students to be realized as human beings, which implies stimulating their freedom and autonomy while respecting the other; Encouraging him to learn the culture to which they have come, awakening their ability to communicate, respect and internalize the values so that with freedom to reach, participate critically and innovatively in new cultural realizations. Part of my philosophy is to promote in my students the value and individual ability for self-realization through reasoning. My goal is to develop a critical, whole, and accomplished human being. To achieve my goal, I encourage my students to talk about their experiences and direct situations; since knowledge develops in an affective framework, of values; responds to the needs and interests of the student and therefore learning is developed from the perception of the student, in accordance with their experiences and experiences. As an educator, I know learning can only be made successful by both instructor and learners. Being an instructor, I will serve my role of making my student get the nursing context in which they can understand the motivation of decisions made by those nursing figures and they can critically evaluate those motivations as well as getting the real essence of actions taken when they synthesize the event themselves. I always want my learners to know that emotionally and intellectually their daily life is as the result of events which were created by normal human being like themselves whom maybe in their mind come across of implications or even foresee result of their actions. It is always my joy to make my learners understand that what they are currently learning is because of those events that have been developed by others and that have shaped the nursing career, to make sure they can handle consciously this event whenever they leave my classroom. My priority is to draw the picture of conversion between nursing and nursing actors those are being studied by my students. I make sure also dialog arising in the class as the reaction of my teaching is conducted in a mutual respect, tolerance of diversified opinions and safe atmosphere to make sure that any candid dialogs of most uncomfortable topics are discussed. Nursing has evolved over a long time and thus it is my desire that my students understand the various nursing contexts that have been carried on from time to time and which have shaped the nursing culture today. As an instructor, I use varied methods of teachings to ensure that discussions and interactions are encouraging and do not create monotonous feeling to my learners. One ...

An increasing number of students require specialized health care procedures during school hours. Procedures such as tube feedings, clean intermittent catheterization, suctioning, and ventilator management are becoming more commonplace in the school setting. Who performs the procedures and is responsible for them being correctly implemented varies across school districts and states. Although consensus can be difficult to reach regarding other critical areas surrounding specialized health care procedures. Two critical areas have been identified and are as follows: First and foremost, all teachers need to maintain a safe, healthy environment for their students in collaboration with others in the school. This includes learning about their students' specific physical and/or health impairments, physical health care procedures, and treatment regime. A teacher should know the major problems and emergencies that could arise with each student. There should be a plan in place to know how to respond should a problem occur. Teachers should also know general safety skills such as universal precautions, general first aid, and CPR. Second, specialized health care procedures should be viewed as independent living skills, which students should be taught. Specialized health care procedures and other health management skills should be considered for goals and objectives. These objectives could target independent performance, partial participation, directing someone else in performance, or knowledge of the task. It is the educational team's responsibility to consider how students can participate in their own self-care. The plan for and establishment of instruction in the area of self-management skill development must include input from appropriate health care specialists, such as nurses, OTs, and PTs. Teachers of students with physical and health disabilities are responsible for providing expertise in the area of instructional strategies and adaptations to promote student learning of these procedures. Even when health care personnel are responsible for performing these procedures, teachers must work closely with them, providing appropriate instructional strategies, error analysis, and correction procedures. Society can steal the dreams of people with disabilities. It defines what people with disabilities are capable of, provides ready-made programs instead of letting these individuals choose their own path; holds low expectations for their achievement, giving praise for mediocre performance instead of expecting the best; and limits their experiences under the guise of protection or safety. Dreams are the essence of a free society, the privilege to dream and the freedom to make that dream come true. This is true for all people. Classroom Behavior Management Plan Components Foundation A- Classroom Demographics lowa the King Catholic School consists of approximately 240 students from pre-k to 8th grade. The kindergarten class, the classroom in which I observed, consists of 21 students. Students’ demographics are 15 white students, three African American students, one Asian student, and one Hispanic student. The classroom is managed by two teachers who are trained to deal with different ethnic groups. Because the school is a private school, most of the students represent middle to high levels of socioeconomic status. The students’ behaviors in the kindergarten class are diverse. As students in the kindergarten class are a younger age, they normally are very active and teachers were very professional in dealing with them. The teachers always reminded the children of the rules of the class such as, “Don’t speak when the teacher is talking. Don’t answer questions until the teacher asks you to answer”. In addition, in the class, there is a leadership board and every day the teachers put one of the student’s name on the board to be the leader of the day. The leader’s job is to do the morning work such as set the date of the day, weather, and season on the smart board by getting help from the teachers and students. Also, some of the leader’s job is to organize the students’ line when they go to the restroom in the restroom times and when they go to the play area. The teachers plan the lesson carefully to meet all students’ needs. They develop the curriculum to align with all students’ cultures and backgrounds. They print all of the vocabulary they teach students on cards and put them on the board. In addition, they put different books that are related to different cultures in the class library for students to read in the reading time. B- Philosophy From my point of view, most of the students’ problems and misbehaviors happen for a reason. Therefore, it is the teacher’s job to find out the reasons for the misbehaviors and teach the students the appropriate behaviors. The most effective way to prevent the misbehavior is to focus on replacing and teaching the positive behavior instead of eliminating it. the theory of Ibrahim Maslow supports this idea and shows that undesired behavior happens not because of a bad child, but because of the child is reaction when one or more of his/her basic needs are not being met. These needs include Knowledge and understanding, self-actualization, self-respect, belongingness and affection, safety and security, physiological needs. He suggests that to reduce child negative behavior, parents and teachers should work to meet the child’ needs. Furthermore, I believe that teachers can create a productive and positive classroom atmosphere by conducting group activities to help students form good relationships with classmates and became familiar with other cultures and ethnicities. The theorist Rudolf Dreikurs also supports this idea. His th ...
