2. quot;Podcasting is a term used to describe a collection of
technologies for automatically distributing audio and
video programs over the internet ...Podcasting
enables independent producers to create self-
published, syndicated quot;radio shows, quot; and gives
broadcast radio or television programs a new
distribution method. Any digital audio player or
computer with audio-playing software can play
podcasts....The term quot;podcastquot;, however, still refers
largely to audio content distribution. A podcast is not
the same as a webcast, which normally refers to a
show distributed by streaming media.quot;

3. Several schools are using podcasting as a way to
create an online Radio Station, students are given
scripts and a time segment in which they are to
perform at.
4. There are several safety measures to take into
consideration since this will be posted on the web,
students should not use their full name on the
station and should not announce daily schedules
(things that would inform the listener of where their
location is).
5. I think having an online station that students can
speak on gives them an opportunity to explore
technology in a different and exciting way. It would
be accessible to family and friends so that they
can show off what they have completed and
learned through the process of podcasting!
6. Greater Student Engagement
More Involvement in Class Discussions
Independent Projects
Increased Enthusiasm
Better Class Reviews
7. An easy way to deliver recorded Lectures
A different way to transport news and information
“Podcasting has taken education by storm, and the
technology cannot be ignored.”
8. Ever since started at Duke, podcasting and the
use of technology and rapidly increased, even with
the use of your own iPod.
“Podcasting (and screencasting) is not just about
the one-to-many delivery of lecture material; it also
allows professors to reconfigure the use of class
time in ways that enhance the intimate learning
environment that is the hallmark of the small
liberal arts college.”
9. There has been a lot of positive feedback from the
use of podcasting at the college level. Students
say it is like “TiVo” for lectures. Students have the
access to these lectures when they want to
whenever they need it.
10. I did not realize that the use of podcasting was
even growing at the Elementary level.
Podcast has increased the engagement with
students and the classroom as well as class
material.
Podcasting is quick and easy to learn!
11. After reading these three articles I have realized
that podcasting is becoming a new technology that
is emerging through several schools. I always
thought it would be only used in a college based
setting. As I read these articles I found out that
there are several different ways to include
podcasting into the classroom at any grade level.
Although the use is different the use of the
technology is still there.
