A whale fall occurs when the carcass of a whale has fallen onto the ocean floor at a depth greater than 1,000 m, in the bathyal or abyssal zones. On the sea floor, these carcasses can create complex localized ecosystems that supply sustenance to deep-sea organisms for decades.

This study aims to identify the "gregariousness" behavior of the little grebe Tachybaptus ruficollis at Morocco from 2013 to 2014 in the hilly reservoir of Hassar dam in the province of Mohammedia at Morocco. The number of species varied to a great extent between January 2013 and August 2014. The population in 2013 was affected by high mortality probably due to intoxication after the release of highly polluted wastewater from the city of Mediouna, the village of Sidi Hejjaj and other villages present in the upstream of the dam reservoir. We recorded 1492 individuals in January 2013 (the highest density of the species in Morocco) and the number fell sharply after then, and start increasing in May 2014 to reach 577 individuals in August 2014. The population living in an area not exceeding to 1 km2 manifest gregariousness behavior consistent with the groups that can reach 180 individuals at some instances. During breeding, the species showed no gregarious behavior and are seen only as pairs. These singles are usually remote and hounded by couples

The problems associated with the nomenclature include: a) Scientific name not italicised b) Scientific name not underlined c) Incorrect capitalisation d) Unnecessary restatement of genus e) No problem The Linnaean system of nomenclature is widely used, but often incorrectly applied. Identify the problems associated with the nomenclature in each of the following sentences. See The nature of data lesson. "The most common species recorded on our transects was Eucalyptus Racemosa ssp. Rossii (58%). The remaining 42% comprised four species that are locally common- E. Mannifera, E. Macrorhyncha and E. Polyanthemos." "Many Australian tree species are widely grown in California, especially those in the genus Eucalyptus. There are over two hundred species of Eucalyptus currently being grown in California, several of which have naturalized. Dr. Matt Ritter will discuss the implications of naturalized eucalypts in California, the controversy associates with their propagation and removal, and the widespread myth of their allelopathy." We examined climate sensitivity in Podocarpus lawrencei-Australia's only alpine conifer. Most of the Australian macropods have suffered significant declines in numbers and/or distribution since European settlement, some to extinction. There has been little adverse effect on the larger kangaroos (red kangaroo (Macropus rufus), western grey kangaroo ( M. fuliginosus), eastern grey kangaroo (Macropus giganteus).A composite linkage map was constructed from four individual maps for the conifer Picea glauca. Comparisons with two other composite linkage maps developed for the species complex P. mariana, P. rubens, and for P. abies revealed remarkable conservation of the gene content. The combined information from these three Picea species validated and improved large-scale comparisons between genera in the family Pinaceae by allowing identification of linkage groups between Picea and Pinus, and between Picea and Pseudotsuga menziesii. Evidence indicated instability in part of the P. menziesii genome. Overall, the macrostructure of the Pinaceae genome was well conserved, which is notable given the Cretaceous origin of its main lineages..

Mangrove forests are among the world’s most productive ecosystems and are the only forests situated at the confluence of land and sea in tropical and subtropical latitudes.Mangroves are one of the biologically diverse ecosystems in the world, rich in organic matter and nutrients and support very large biomass of flora and fauna. With continuing degradation and destruction ofmangroves, there is a critical need to understand the biodiversity of the mangrove ecosystems.Mangroves represent spirit of Mumbai and NaviMumbai - they are plucky survivors. Each day, millions of citizens in Mumbai pass these hardy plants imaging they are little more than dirty, muddy weeds growing pointlessly along the shoreline. Overexploitation and unsustainable demand has resulted in considerable degradation of mangrove areas and it is feared that the area under mangroves around Mumbai areas has dwindled by 35% in the last 25 years and only about 20 Km2 of mangroves exist today. During this study, 4 species of true mangroves representing 3 genera and 3 families, 10 species of mangrove associates belonging to 8 genera and 6 families and 1 species of non-mangrove halophytes were recorded from the mangrove ecosystems of Uran (Raigad), Navi Mumbai,Maharashtra. At present, coastal environment of Uran shows moderate mangrove density but in coming few years, area around Uran coast will be dominated by intense industrialization and urbanization. In such circumstances, pollution of Uran coast cannot be ignored. Therefore, data presented in this paper can be taken as a base line data for better management of these natural resources. Key words: Mangroves diversity, Uran, Navi Mumbai,Maharashtra
