9. Wright’s Fallingwater is considered the pinnacle of his work on organic architecture. Suspended over a waterfall, the home utilizes natural color schemes, materials, and motifs that work to make the inhabitant feel outside while inside.
10. Integration with Nature Some materials include, but are not limited to, sandbags, straw bales, and old tires.

20. Sustainability On this terraced tea plantation, other native plants are allowed to grow at the same time. This increased diversity can protect the target crop from pests, helps reduce nutrient depletion, and allows for year-round harvesting.
23. The Ecovillage, Currumbin Some eco villages are targeted to young, modern singles and families. This eco village has more amenities and less agriculture than some of its earlier counterparts.

This and the following two slides are examples of various Eco Villages. This Village has clear, clustered housing (purple) and large areas set aside for agriculture. The walls of trees offer a welcome seclusion from the busy outside world, and the carefully laid out landscape allows for easy management, yet no at the expense of the environment and biodiversity.
This Eco Village, contrary to the previous one, is more reminiscent of a vacation resort. There are large areas open to the community, but agriculture is not early as prevalent here. Also, near the bottom of the screen one will notice a much higher concentration of commercial buildings for use by visitors to the community.
Shown here are some examples of biomimicry in action. The pictures on the left show the pads of a gecko’s foot used for climbing and adhering to surfaces (top) and a robot called “Stickybot” with feet covered in nano-tube much like those of the gecko. It is hoped that someday this robot will be able to be used in search and rescue missions. The pictures on the right show a boxfish (top) whose shape has been used as the inspiration for a Mercedes-Benz concept car with surprising (in a good way) results.
