Who is your teacher?  Mr. Chiang previously taught in NYC (where he met his wife), earned his BA in political science at UCI, and MA in education at Stanford, and is ½ to being done with a MA in organizational leadership at Columbia  University.
Syllabus - Grades 1)  Class Website :  www.govandlaw.org/mvhs   (Ning-Networking, Groups-Mass Email, PBWorks-Work) 2)   Daily Materials : Pencil, pen, mini paper notebook, and laptop/netbook. 3)   Grades : 1)  Timely  Class/Event/Unit Attendance 2) Effort in Team Tasks  (you step up, you will get an A, you don’t commit, you won’t) .   Team Tasks 10 points each time Class Participation  10 points weekly Speaking Practice  60 points each time  Unit Meetings (8 hours a month)  160 points a month  Competitions/Field Studies   600 points each 90% Policy:  Test scores below 90% must be retaken The focus is not on grades, but on learning for a higher purpose, which is for personal growth and team trust.

Most your homework is your unit group study for competition.  3)  Schedule and begin  September’s unit  meetings  on  researching  congressional Q’s (8 hrs). To be ready for comp, your unit must research/discuss/debate (from multi-viewpoints) each “ WHAT DO YOU THINK ” and “ REVIEWING AND USING THE LESSON ” section of your unit. After that, your unit should explore beyond the book.

Questions to consider… 1)  Do you believe every human being is born with certain rights, why?  (aka Locke’s natural rights) 2)  Are the rights of some humans worth more than other humans, why?  3)  What do you do if one’s freedom interferes with someone else’s freedom? 4)  How important is freedom to you? 5)  When do you support giving up some freedom?
7 Project Steps 1)   As a unit, develop a common vision and assign roles. Tip: Have people go and research different sources . 2)   One person creates/shares the work and creates place holders. Tip: Do segments of your work offline and then upload to section . 3)   Keep track of time, task requirements, and emotional wellness. Tip: Clearly assigned roles, planning, and awareness are essential. 4)   When done, double check task requirements and aesthetics.  Tip: Slides: font bigger than 30, strategic use of A/V multimedia. 6)   Share with Chiang: chiangwork@gmail.com 7)   Rehearse and complement each other on a job well done.

  • 3. Who is your teacher? Mr. Chiang previously taught in NYC (where he met his wife), earned his BA in political science at UCI, and MA in education at Stanford, and is ½ to being done with a MA in organizational leadership at Columbia University.
