13. What is Curriculum Compacting?
• WHO: gifted, bright/talented students, high-ability learners.
• WHAT: acceleration + extension and enrichment; student compacts curriculum
in a shorter period of time (accelerated); satisfies all expectations; saves space
in timetable for other courses or other enrichment opportunities.
• WHERE: usually outside the regular classroom (i.e. resource, SST, guidance,
library this is outlined on the student’s academic contract).
• WHEN: the student will most likely compact a full credit in 9 weeks/half a
semester; the other part of the semester is earmarked for another compact,
mentoring, studying for SATs/AP, or another enrichment opportunity.
• WHY: it is an accommodation for students’ learning with special needs
(enrichment, acceleration).
20. Subject Connection
You will need to design your project to ensure you meet the
Careers,
Civics, and
one other Related Course
Curriculum Learning Expectations.
You will have access to the course profiles for all grade 10 courses.
You will need to justify your connection with examples.
