1. Overview
Today most B.Ed. colleges and their faculty are unaware of real learning challenges in schools and are ill­equipped;
academically and attitudinally. There is a major disconnect between what teachers must know and be able to do and
what they actually learn, even in the best teacher preparation programs. Teachers take knowledge as ‘given’ and depend
largely on the prescribed textbooks to ‘dispense’ knowledge. Performance eclipses learning. The end aim of most
schools is performance in the board exams. Since the beliefs, values, attitudes, skills and disposition of the teacher with
regard to the school, society, individuals and issues directly impact the learners’ spiritual, intellectual, physical and
academic development and growth, teachers of tomorrow should not merely transact learning but also become role
models for the students they teach.
Today country is grappling with the situation of preparing a cadre of teachers who can ensure quality with equity, as still
the best of university graduates are not opting for teaching as a profession.
Glocal School of Education was established with the aim of bringing dignity, social recognition and rewards to the

The research driven philosophy of GCE is not merely to prepare ‘model teachers’ but to solve new educational problems
of the country through its research driven team.
The mission of GSOE is to collaborate with schools, research organizations, training institutes and individuals across the
globe to institutionalize and embed innovation and change in school education and teacher preparation programs and
thus to create new benchmarks in teaching as a profession of choice. GSOE promotes a culture of research based
teaching practices and a spirit of inquiry and reflection among the teaching professionals. It recognizes the enlarging role
of technology in all educational practices.
