2016—ROME JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
Travel to Rome has an even deeper significance in 2016! Pope Francis has declared it a Jubilee Year of Mercy—a great
historic event in the Catholic Church linked to universal pardons and reconciliation. The Jubilee begins
on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 2015, with the rare opening of the Holy Door
at St. Peter’s Basilica. Throughout this Holy Year, the Holy Doors at St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major,
and St. Paul Outside the Walls will also be opened, giving pilgrims the opportunity to pass through the
doors and receive the sacrament of forgiveness. Various events and celebrations will occur throughout
the Jubilee, with the conclusion on November 20, 2016, the Feast of Christ the King. This momentous
occasion, the thirtieth Jubilee in the history of the Catholic Church, will be celebrated around the world,

2017—500 YEARS OF REFORMATION
On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses to the door of the Castle Church in Wittenberg,
setting off the Protestant Reformation. Today, Protestants from around the globe visit Germany to celebrate
Reformation Day on October 31st by participating in the many events around the country—especially in
Martin Luther’s hometown and final resting place of Wittenberg. In 2017, Globus will feature a very special
itinerary that marks the Jubilee of the Reformation. On this 11-day journey from Berlin to Munich, you’ll

Admire the magnificent cathedral, Giotto’s Bell Tower, the Baptistry’s
heavy bronze “Gate of Paradise,” and visit sculpture-studded
SIGNORIA SQUARE. Time to check out the enticing shops with

DAY 4 FLORENCE–VENICE.

DAY 6 LUCERNE.
During your walking tour, admire Thorwaldsen’s emotional LION
MONUMENT and the ornate patrician houses lining the cobblestone
streets of the Old Town. Cross the famous covered CHAPEL
BRIDGE to the Jesuit Church. Of course, you will taste CHOCOLATE
PRALINES from Läderach Chocolatier Suisse, one of Switzerland’s
most famous chocolate makers. Shop for Swiss watches or knives,
and to make the most of your stay, choose from our optional
