The Groundwater and Storage interactions project arose out of a meeting on the shoulder of the Greenhouse Gas Technologies Conference in Amsterdam in 2010. It was decided to concentrate initially on the Australian Flagships projects. On 3 May 2011 Australian researchers and government agencies met and presented their work to date. OBJECTIVE – GROUNDWATER CO2 INTERACTION
• To understand the potential impacts of CO2 storage on deep groundwater
resources especially for demonstration –scale projects
• To inform the proponents, regulators and prospective funders of the potential
impacts
•To identify where these impacts may create threats and opportunities and the
best way of understanding and managing these impacts
•To establish a collaborative network of agencies interested in groundwater
science and its interaction with geological carbon storage.
•To consider what other resources may benefit from a similar analysis
