How to Find the Perfect Gift
1. How to Find the Perfect (Practical) Gift
I know many people may have different ideas on this topic, but here are my thoughts on
how to find the perfect gift, based on my experiences.
1. Listen to what your friends or family members say. They usually give
you hints on what they need or what would make their lives easier. For example, during the
holidays, a family member of mine was complaining about how she had so many little
containers and things in her purse that she needed something like bigger pockets for her
purse to put the containers in. Initially, I didn’t think anything of it, but then I saw the
handbag organizer on Avon which was almost exactly what she was talking about. It wasn’t
the most glamorous gift, but if was definitely useful, and she uses it every day.
2. Think about their goals and aspirations. If your friend has a passion for
something, a gift that helps them move forward in that area will always be appreciated.
For example, I was surprised to hear how excited my sister’s friend was when she got her
an LSAT book for Christmas. That may not have been the perfect gift for me, since my
hope isn’t to become a lawyer, but it was the perfect gift for her friend.
3. Consider their hobbies. One of my family members recently became interested
in gardening and used to garden almost every day during the summer. This gave me the
idea of getting the 9 Piece Gardening Tool Kit from Amazon. It came with tools, a carrying
case, and a chair with a back rest. The gift receiver couldn’t stop smiling.
4. Reflect onwhat makes your life easier. I know that gift cards are
sometimes seen as unimaginative, but I was pretty happy when I got an American Express
gift card for Christmas. Because it was from American Express, it gave me a lot of
flexibility in where I could spend it. Again, it’s not glamorous, but for the right person, it
could mean very much.
5. Think about what would make your life easier. I saw a great cutting
board on a website and instantly thought about how useful it would’ve been when I was
cooking. It comes with built-in compartments that allow you to clear the board of chopped
food without having to get a plate or a container. That means less dishes and less clutter.
Since many people cook, this would be a great gift for anyone.
