                                                 The Planning paradox *
(…if we pre-determine what is going to happen before it takes place, we may be in danger not
only of missing what is right in front of us but, more importantly, we may also be closing of
avenues of possible evolution and development)

A plan (mental structure) might be just the map we need initially. New teachers, especially,
need maps to help them through the landscape.
The lesson is a proposal for action in classrooms which are dynamic environments.
The lesson is an interactive event in which people react with each other and with the language.
In normal teaching we may modify the proposal for action.

  • 1. English as foreign language Teaching procedures Unit/Lessons plans “Pleased to meet EU” Comenius project Introduction I.C. “V. Mennella”- Lacco Ameno - Italy The Planning paradox * (…if we pre-determine what is going to happen before it takes place, we may be in danger not only of missing what is right in front of us but, more importantly, we may also be closing of avenues of possible evolution and development) A plan (mental structure) might be just the map we need initially. New teachers, especially, need maps to help them through the landscape. The lesson is a proposal for action in classrooms which are dynamic environments. The lesson is an interactive event in which people react with each other and with the language. In normal teaching we may modify the proposal for action. * Jeremy Harmer “the practice of English Language Teaching”, Pearson Longmann Editor by prof. G.Iacono
