2. We have developed the Sion: an electric
car with a range of 250 kilometers and
for a price of 16,000 euros.
The Sion is the first standard solar car
that additionally charges its battery
through the sun. Thereby, 30 kilometers
of range can be generated daily by
solar energy.

3. Design
With the dynamic integration of solar
cells in the bodywork, we not only set
a new benchmark in the automotive
branch but also back this up with an
exceptional design concept.

4. Exterior
The most exceptional feature of the
Sion are the solar cells which we
installed on each side, the hood, and
the rear. The lightweight design gua-
rantees the Sion’s singularly efficiency.
The exterior is mainly composed of
rust-proof polycarbonate which is also
scratch-resistant.

5. Cockpit
For the cockpit, we use a straight­
forward design, showing you how fast
you are going and the charging level of
your battery. On the left side, you can
see the number of kilometers generated
through the viSono system. After ­24
hours, these kilometers will be trans-
ferred to the right side, where they are
added to the total remaining range.
Interior
We will keep the Sion’s interior very sim-
ple. The eye-catchers are the breSono
air filter system and the infotainment
system, with a ten-inch screen. For the
volume production, we will count on
renewable resources for the interior
materials.

6. Features
The Sion copes with the requirements of
your daily life: A range of 250 kilome-
ters, high power rapid charging, and a
sophisticated interior concept with an
optional trailer hitch. Thanks to the big
trunk you can simply do your grocery
shopping. On the following pages, we
introduce you to the unique features of
the Sion.

Our viSono system is based on the idea
of power generation. Through solar
cells, the Sion is capable of recharging
the battery itself. Thus, the Sion can
generate up to 30 kilometers of range
per day – for free!
This circumstance does not mean that
the Sion can only drive during the day.
The battery has a real range of 250
kilometers – in all weather conditions
­– and can also be charged externally.
We use highly efficient monocrystalline
silicon cells for the solar panels. A total
of 330 cells can generate a peak value
of 1,204 W with an efficiency of 24 %.
The modules are glued to a substruc-
ture similar to a standard windscreen.
Therefore, the modules are easily
exchangeable.

8. Thanks to our bidirectional charging
technology, the Sion can not only
absorb and store electricity but also
rerelease it. Using a household plug,
all conventional electronic devices with
up to 3.7 kW are powerable by the Sion.
Goal for volume production
• 50 kW DC via CCS
• 11 kW AC via Type 2 (22 kW is being sought)
Goal for discharging power
• 11 kW AC via Type 2 (22 kW is being sought)
• 3.7 kW via SchuKo
You can plug in your electronic devices
and power them with the Sion’s battery.
Over a Type 2 plug, the Sion can pro-
vide even more power with up to 11 kW.
In connection with viSono, the Sion ­
be­comes a mobile power plant.

9. The lighting-system of breSono can be regulated with your smartphone.
For air filtering, we integrated a special
moss into the dashboard. Through
electrostatic attraction, it filters up to
20 % of the fine dust particles and has a
regulating effect on the humidity inside
the Sion. No worries, you do not have to
water it. It requires no special care at all.

10. We developed a maintenance system
which ensures low costs. The disclosure
of our workshop manual allows the
establishment of a broad network of
services – and small expenses for you.
You will be able to maintain your Sion in
three different ways:
We will offer step-by-step manuals in
the form of texts and videos, so every-
body should be able to repair the Sion
without prior knowledge or training.
If you do not feel like repairing the Sion
by yourself, just bring it to the next auto
shop. We removed workshop licenses
and do not develop any specialist repair
standards. Our workshop manual is
freely available for everyone. Thereby,
we pursue to create a well-developed
dealer network that allows you a cost-­
effective repair.
For all high-voltage and chassis repairs,
we cooperate with a well-known ser-
vice provider from Europe. So you can
be sure that your Sion is in good hands
for a repair.

11. Information
Battery
The lithium-ion battery has a water
cooling system and a range of 250 km.
We offer it with a monthly battery rate
or an upfront battery purchase of round
about 4,000 euros
Engine
With its 80 kW (109 hp) in combination
with its single-speed transmission, the
3-phase asynchronous motor offers
­driving pleasure up to a maximum
speed of 140 kph. The operating voltage
of the complete drive train is 400 volts.
Trailer Hitch
With a towing capacity of up to 750
Kilograms, you can tow almost any
trailer without a problem.
Safety
Safety is critical to us. That is why the
Sion has an anti-lock braking system,
airbags for the driver and passenger
front airbags and an ESC-system.

15. Charging Systems
You can charge the Sion with three
different charging systems at almost
all charging stations in Europe:
SchuKo, Type 2 and CCS

Household plug (SchuKo)
Depending on the load capacity of the
socket, charging takes up to 13 hours to
charge an empty battery.
Conventional charging station (Type 2)
In this case, 80 % of the charge takes 2.5
hours and 100 % 3.5 hours.
Rapid charging station (CCS)
Via CCS the Sion is loaded to 80 % in
30 minutes, for 100 % it takes another
30 minutes. However, 80 % - and thus a
range of 200 kilometers - is often suffi-
cient to reach the nearest fast charging
station.

With the Sion, we offer a range of
services that stand for innovative and
sustainable mobility. The goSono app
combines three remarkable features of
the Sion: powerSharing, rideSharing,
and carSharing. By using your smart-
phone, you can offer others electricity,
a ride or the Sion.

17. powerSharing
Thanks to the technology of bidirectional charging,
called biSono, you can use the car as an independent
power source. You can share specific amounts of
energy with other people. You decide on how much
power you are willing to pass on and at what price.
Other app users see your offer and the exact location
of your car as a mobile charging station. Your car be-
comes a mobile charging station for every electronic
device.
rideSharing
With the goSono app, you can offer a ride to other
users. When they are interested, they send you a
request. Once you accept it, they get a notice, and
you can pick them up. That way you meet new people
while earning some extra money and protecting the
environment.

18. Share your Sion with others – and protect our environment.

The integrated carSharing feature
enables to share your Sion with other
people. Use the goSono app to decide
on how long you want to share your
Sion. Once somebody sends a request,
he can reserve and unlock the car with
your permission. With this feature,
every­body benefits from your Sion,
including the environment and your
wallet.

19. Sion preorder
First, you will require a reservation to
purchase the Sion. This reservation
comes with a right of withdrawal of two
weeks. In a second step, Sono Motors
will offer you a contract of sale for the
Sion in 2019. The agreement comes with
a right of withdrawal and rescission
of two weeks. The delivery will occur
free of cost to Bremerhaven. For an
additional charge, we will deliver the
Sion to the location of preference. Test
drives will take place at the discretion of
Sono Motors GmbH. Reservations are
possible worldwide.
