2. Anthony Hopkins
Anthony Hopkins is a famous actor born in Wales in
1937 where he studied at the College for Music and
Drama. He later on in life moved to London and joined
the National Theatre. Anthony Hopkins is most
commonly known for he role as Hannibal Lector. He
first starred as this role in 1991 in ‘Silence Of The
Lambs’ which was a huge box office success. 10 years
later he reprised his role as Lector for two years
running. Starring in ‘Hannibal’ in 2001 and in ‘Red
Dragon’ in 2002.
3. Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman is an Australian-American
actress, singer and film producer. Kidman's
film career began in 1983, it wasn’t until 1989
she had her breakthrough in the thriller Dead
Calm. Kidman stars in psychological thriller
‘The Others’. In 2013 she is set to star in
another psychological thriller ‘Stoker’. One of
her most notable roles was starring in ‘Moulin
Rouge’ earning her a Golden Globes award
and her first ever nomination for the
Academy Awards for best actress.
4. Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo Dicaprio is an American actor and
film producer. He has been nominated for the
Golden Globe Awards nine times as an
actor, he won the Golden Globe for Best Actor
for his performance in ‘The Aviator’. As well as
winning numerous other awards in the film
industry. Dicaprio had his first big break in the
smash hit ‘Titanic’ starring alongside Kate
Winslet. Since the 2000’s Dicaprio has starred
in more drama/thriller styled films. Other films
DiCaprio is renowned for is Aviator, The
Departed, Blood Diamond, Inception, Shutter
Island and more recently Django Unchained.
5. Sir Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock was an English film director and
producer. Hitchcock was most commonly known
for his work in producing suspense and
psychological thrillers. One of his most famous
pieces of work is ‘Psycho’. He was successful in
both silent films and early talkies, from this he
was billed as England's best director. Hitchcock
was so renowned for suspense and psychological
thrillers he was nicknamed ‘The Master of
Suspense’. From Hitchcock’s success he was
knighted in 1980. In 2013 Anthony Hopkins is set
to star as Hitchcock in a biographical drama film
also starring Helen Mirren.
6. Martin Scorsese
Martin Scorsese is a well known American film
director, screen writer, producer, actor and film
historian. He is widely regarded as one of the
greatest film directors of all time. One of Martin
Scorsese’s most notable films is ‘The Departed’
starring Leonardo Dicaprio. This film won him the
Academy Award for The Best Director in 2006,
after being nominated 5 times previously. He is
also the director of the psychological thriller
‘Shutter Island’ making this the fourth film for
actor Leonardo Dicaprio to work with him.
7. David Lynch
David Lynch is an American filmmaker, television
director, visual artist, musician and occasional
actor. He is most known for his surrealist
films, he has developed his own unique
cinematic style, giving him the name ‘Lynchian’.
He also has won best director at the Academy
Awards, as well as winning numerous other
awards in the film industry. His type of work is
very distinctive with the audience and
characters figuring out what what is real and
what isn't, an example of this is ‘Mulholland
Drive’,
