Natco Pharma, Alvogen file ANDA for
Kerala hiking alcohol tax Ibrutinib tablets for US markets
Shares of liquor companies declined on Thursday after
media reports suggested that the government of Kerala
has hiked the tax on alcohol. Shares of United Spirits,
Radico Khaitan, IFB Agro Industries, Globus Spirits, and
Gujchem Distillers India were down. As per media reports,
Kerala Finance Minister Thomas Isaac, in his fiscal budget,
for the year 2019-2020 presented on Thursday hiked the
tax on alcohol including beer and wine by 2%.

DHFL extends decline on reports of govt probe
Shares of Dewan Housing Finance Corporation (DHFL)
extended their decline on Thursday and hit an over four-
year low on the BSE. The stock fell after a media report
stated that the Ministry of Corporate Affairs will probe the
allegations against the housing finance company. In the
past four trading days, the stock has tanked 33% on the
BSE. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs will investigate
allegations against the company after a report by
investigative news portal Cobrapost alleged that the
mortgage lender's promoters siphoned off about Rs35,
000cr of public money.
Natco Pharma announced its submission of an
Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) containing a
paragraph IV certification with the USFDA for generic
version of Ibrutinib Tablets of 140mg, 280mg, 420mg
and 560mg strength (proposed generic equivalents to
Imbruvica tablets). NATCO and its co-development &
marketing partner, Alvogen Pine Brook LLC, USA, believe
that the ANDA is possibly sole first-to-file based on the
ANDA filing dates. The company further believes that
ANDA may be eligible for 180 days of marketing
exclusivity at the time of potential launch of the product
under certain circumstances, as per BSE filing.

HDFC Bank appoints MD Ranganath as
additional independent director
The board of Directors of HDFC Bank have approved the
appointment of MD Ranganath as an Additional Independent
Director of the Bank for a period of five years effective today i.e.
Thursday, January 31, 2019, subject to the approval of the
shareholders. Ranganath has over 26 years of experience in the
Global IT services and financial services industry. He was Chief
Financial Officer of Infosys till November 2018.
