STATISTICS ON THE BENEFITS
OF GETTING INVOLVED IN HIGH SCHOOL

              THESE ARE PERCENTAGES

*U.S. Department of Education, National Center for Education Statistics, National
Education Longitudinal Study, Second Follow-up, 1992.
QUOTES FROM TEACHERS
“If students truly want to have a full
       experience, stretch themselves as people,
challenge themselves in ways they never
have before, or simply make life-long friends,
then they need to be involved in our school.
Everyone can go to class everyday, go home
after school, and never change anything. But
they would be robbing themselves of a
truly great experience. Our school offers a
wide variety of activities in which students
can explore. As a great texter once texted,
       "YOLO."” -----Daniel Ching
HERE’S ANOTHER...
“ACTIVITIES SUPPORT THE ACADEMIC MISSION OF SCHOOLS. They are
not a diversion, but rather an extension of a good educational program. Students
who participate in activity programs tend to have higher grade-point averages,
better attendance records, lower dropout rates and fewer discipline problems than
students generally.
ACTIVITIES ARE INHERENTLY EDUCATIONAL. Activity programs provide
valuable lessons for many practical situations. Through participation in activity
programs, students learn teamwork, sportsmanship, winning and losing, the
rewards of hard work, self-discipline, build self-confidence, and develop skills to
handle competitive situations. These are qualities the public expects schools to
produce in students so they become responsible adults and productive citizens.
ACTIVITIES FOSTER SUCCESS IN LATER LIFE. Participation in high
school activities is often a predictor of later success - in college, a career, and
becoming a contributing member of society.”

----- Chelsea Geraci-Milliorn
AND ANOTHER...
“Forget “school”.

School is a blink. And it's just some buildings. Think
YOU. WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU GONNA DO IN
LESS THAN 4 YEARS? That is the question.

Get involved with YOU. Build YOUR skills. MAKE
cool stuff. DO cool stuff. End up with a COOL
LIFE.

It's a scary world out there. Strap on. Be ready. Mad
skills start NOW!”

-----Jon Corippo
Still not convinced? What about...
       MILITARY CLUB

Anyone can join. For serious folks
and fans of the military. Three big
    field trips; two overnight.

  Guest speakers. Gaming and
      probably paintball.

         See Mr. Corippo
OR, WHAT ABOUT...
Being In A Play
                              MRS. SMITH SAYS:

“So far, at least one after school
                  play, potentially two, fall and
spring:) Get to act, hang out
with other actors, its just plain
                  fun:)”
Oh, this is new...
               Heirloom Organic Gardener Club
Gardens will be on campus. We've been invited to be exhibitors at the largest
heirloom food festival in the world in Sonoma County (Santa Rosa) by Oprah
promoted & featured Baker Creek Seed Company (student focus is Sept 12th)
http://www.theheirloomexpo.com/. Students would be creating a presentation
project on sustainable living, community, farming, and food.

                             Talk to Mr. Powers if
                              you are interested!
Mr. Samuelson says...
“The Marching Band is looking for new members.
If anyone has played an instrument in the past and would like to rejoin
band, we would be interested in talking to them.  The Band plans on
playing at Santa Cruz and Pismo this fall and hopes to perform at one of
California's major theme parks in the spring.  We also need young ladies
who are interested in being part of the colorguard team which would be
flag twirling and holding letters or a banner for the band.”
Mr. Ching wants you to know about...

FINAL THOUGHTS...
