The word Imagence is formed by two words - Image or Imagine - which stands
for ideas, thoughts, dreams, concepts and mental images - and Emergence -

What is Blogging
(and why is it important?)


Blogging (or, Web-logging) is referred to a certain kind of website that gets
chronologically updated and enables self-publishing by people who do not know
the basics of web-design or HTML.

As defined by the Wikipedia:



       A weblog (usually shortened to blog, but occasionally spelled web log) is a
   •
       web-based publication consisting primarily of periodic articles (normally in
       reverse chronological order).
       Blogs can be hosted by dedicated blog hosting services, or they can be
   •
       run using blog software on regular web hosting services.
· Like other media, blogs often focus on a particular subject, such as food,
   •
       politics, or local news. Some blogs function as online diaries. A typical
       blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and
       other media related to its topic.



Because blogs offer an easy way for people to connect with others and express
themselves (therefore, fulfilling mankind’s two basic higher order needs !) it has
grown exponentially after it started.



Some facts from Technorati (www.technorati.com ) which is a blog tracking and
search tool:

       Technorati now tracks over 35.3 Million blogs
   •
       The blogosphere is doubling in size every 6 months
   •
       It is now over 60 times bigger than it was 3 years ago
   •
       On average, a new weblog is created every second of every day
   •
       19.4 million bloggers (55%) are still posting 3 months after their blogs are
   •
       created
       Technorati tracks about 1.2 Million new blog posts each day, about 50,000
   •
       per hour.

With these kind of numbers it is easy to see why businesses are getting excited
about the “blogosphere” (which is the name for the ecology of blogs).

Many people commenting and expressing themselves on blogs invariably focus
on their workplaces and the products they use. These conversations are
invariably richer than any structured interviews or focus group discussions.
Organizations that join these conversations will differentiate themselves from
their competitors in building a relationship with bloggers.

The series of workshops for clients would explain the opportunities of engaging
the blogosphere to build a brand and a distinctive image globally and to

Organizational Development (OD) is the approach to solving organizational
issues by taking a systemic approach. It involves diagnosis of the issue, design
and development of an appropriate intervention, implementation and feedback.

OD is based in behavioral sciences and therefore looks at not only the quot;Whatquot; of
people related initiatives but also at the quot;howquot;

OD can be used to diagnose issues that are underlying and may not surface in
the normal course of events. These can be intra-team issues, inter-team issues,
inter-level issues or organizational issues.

The Imagence Partners is an OD and HR Consulting firm that helps
organizations in various ways. These range from setting up processes and
policies for a HR function for small and medium businesses, to developing
internal HR talent, diagnosis and design of Organizational Development
initiatives to helping businesses get ready for the next generation of employees.

Ekta



          Ekta is an MBA in HR from IMDR Pune and has worked as HR manager
of two software firms in Hyderabad. She has also been a freelance trainer and
consultant with a developmental consultancy, Thinksoft where she was involved
in selection of candidates based on Behavioral Event Interviewing.

Ekta's interests are Organizational Development and Training. She holds an
M.Sc.(Education) from the Regional Institute of Education, Mysore. She was a
lecturer and had taught chemistry to B.Sc. students at Shadan College,
Hyderabad, before doing her MBA.

Gautam



            Gautam is an MBA from XLRI, Jamshedpur and has worked as a HR
manager and learning professional in various organizations like Deloitte, Dell
Inc., Hewlett-Packard and Satyam.
Prior to doing his MBA, Gautam worked in the hospitality and pharmaceutical
sales industries.

Gautam is avid blogger on Management issues and has been featured on
Fortune’s Business Innovation blog, and is one of the bloggers who posts on the
pages of Recruiting.com, Jobster Blog and InterBizNet.
