- 10. • The library is not the starting point - There are many starting points. • The campus is not the work location - Much research takes place off-campus. • The proxy is not the answer - It requires a level of effort from the off-campus user that s/he is increasingly unwilling to give. • The index is not current - Library search indices are not updated as frequently as commercial search solutions such as Google Scholar. • The PC is not the device - Phones and tablets are, and the PDF poses problems there. • User accounts are not well implemented - Having another account, in addition to an institutional login - on every individual content platform - is not efficient for researchers or portable when they change institutions.
