Low-power broadcasting is electronic broadcasting at
low power to a smaller area than "full power" stations of the
same region, but often distinguished from "micropower
broadcasting" (more commonly "microbroadcasting")
and broadcast translators. LPFM, LPAM, and LPTV are in
various levels of use across the world, varying widely based
on the laws and their enforcement.

broadcasting) is the broadcasting of radio programming by
privately owned corporate media, as opposed to state
sponsorship. Many government licenses only allow LPFM for

needed or as required by government radio licensing.

service. Public Radio Broadcasters receive funding from
diverse sources including government, license fees,
individual contributions, public financing and sometimes

typically use LPFM transmitters in smaller markets where a
smaller area of coverage is needed or as required by
government radio licensing.

– The required field strength to provide a good
stereo signal is:
• 54 dBμV/m in rural areas,
• 66 dBμV/m in suburban areas and
• 74 dBμV/m in city areas.
– For good mono reception, the required field
