2. A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE JĹŚMON HISTORY
The very long (approximately 14,000 – 9,000 years) Jōmon period is
basically divided into a number of eras: Incipient, Initial, Early, Middle, Late
and Final, with the phases getting continually shorter in time.
The word incipient means “beginning to happen or develop” so this would
mean that the incipit ant era was the era that the JĹŤmon era must have
began or started to develop.
3. JĹŚMON POTTERY AND THERE SIGNIFICANCE
It is currently thought that the earliest pottery ever made was made in
Japan, in the early stages of the JĹŤmon Incipient era, this is why the era is
so important.
These pots were discovered in caves in the northwest coast of modern day
Kyushu. The pottery is also famous for there intricate designs and patterns.
4. LIFE STYLE
Lifestyle diet and tools changed in the Jomon period because the
Japanese stoped being hunter gatherers and began to settle in place.
This would be preferable as it provided safety and made it easier to
hunt and cook food.
