    Time 7:30pm – 10pm
Folsom Historical Society are currently raising funds for a project to
preserve one of the last remnants of Folsom’s rich Chinese heritage.
Folsom has a rich history involving Chinese immigrants who settled
in the area during the Gold Rush. At the height of the Gold Rush,
Folsom had a Chinese Community of around 2,500 persons,
complete with its own shops, churches and mayor, making it the
second largest Chinese community (after San Francisco) in
                                    California in the 1880s.

The groups are planning to restore a piece of property located in
Historic Folsom which will become the Howard Sr. and Mabel Chan
Museum. The goal of this restoration is to develop the Chan House
805 Sutter St. Folsom CA and its garden so that it can be used to preserve and display
Chinese artifacts found in the area and to tell the story of Chinese in

impact that the Chinese community had on the history of Folsom
Chinese New Year and the surrounding communities.

begin the restoration of the house and adjacent garden area.
