Three act treatment
4. Influence 1
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
In this film Jack Nicholson is admitted to a
mental institution, the characters upon this
location are in relation to our character
‘Vincent’ and the criminal escapee.
• The main protagonist Randall McMurphy
was a huge influence on our own
protagonist. We wanted to try and infuse
our protagonist with Randall’s charisma,
charm and ambiguity.
5. Influence 2
Shutter Island
• The plot of this film is U.S. Marshal Edward "Teddy" Daniels,
investigates a psychiatric facility on the titular island after a
patient goes missing.
• The element of this film that influenced us the most was the
tone, it manages to have a dark and gritty tone while also
balancing that with a creepy and tense atmosphere. The
erosion of Teddy's confidence and even his identity were also
influences.
6. Influence 3
• Se7en
The newly transferred David Mills (Pitt) and the soon-to-
retire William Somerset (Freeman) are homicide
detectives who become deeply involved in the case of a
sadistic serial killer whose meticulously planned
murders correspond to the seven deadly sins: gluttony,
greed, sloth, wrath, pride, lust, and envy.
The influence from this film came in the form of the
antagonist, he brutally and ritualistically kills people.
He was the main inspiration for our antagonist. Dirty,
violent, polluted, often depressing. Visually and
stylistically, that's how we want to portray this world.
Everything needs to be as authentic and raw as
possible.
