CAR has a vast potential for hydropower development which when harnessed can generate a combined capacity of 3,587 megawatts. Already, it hosts 4 hydropower plants namely: Amubuklao, Binga, Magat and Bakun Hydro, apart from hosting the headwaters of the San Roque Dam.
Across the country, CAR remains least developed in terms of paved national roads at 53.79% as of November 2011.
In terms of air travel, the Baguio Airport is presently not fully operational, with the absence of a permanent commercial flight for the Manila-Baguio-Manila route. Moreover, flights to and from other key destinations are yet to be established in support to the city’s role as the country’s summer capital and its being host to multinational companies and ICT-related businesses. The Baguio Airport could not attract commercial air carriers, particularly those with higher seating capacities, because of poor visibility conditions, inadequate navigational facilities, the short length of the runway, and other issues that need to be addressed concerning airport maintenance such as the runway being crossed by people, vehicles and animals.
Since 1997, all towns and cities have been served by electricity while at the barangay level, 94% of the barangays are energized. The province of Apayao has the most number of unenergized barangays with 40 followed by Kalinga with 15 At the household level, 9 out of 10 households are connected to the grid. The dispersed settement pattern in CAR makes missionary electrification less viable thus other renewable energy resources are applicable like micro-hydro and solar power For the next planning period, rural electricaton will get a boost with DOE allocation P2B annually nationwide until 2016 to energie all barangays and sitios77/77 Towns/cities; 1,105/1,172 barangays
The RDC-CAR, in its February 21, 2012 Strategic Planning Conference, adopted 17 banner programs/projects whose implementation shall be vigorously pushed and shepherd by the RDC. These include the Revitalization of the BLISTT… etc.
