This document outlines an art unit plan for students with three key activities: 1) Worksheets to match shapes to colors, shapes to names, and colors; 2) A smart board activity to match shapes for feedback; 3) An activity where students mix primary colors to make secondary colors before discussing their favorite parts of artworks and presenting to the class.
2. VA.0.1.1.3 – Identify the media, tools, techniques, and processes used in sculpting (e.g.,clay, paper). VA.0.1.2.1 – Experiment with primary, secondary, neutral, warm, and cool colors. VA.0.1.2.4 – Use shapes and overlapping shapes in their own artwork. VA.0.1.2.7 – Compare sizes of objects and use in their own artwork. VA.0.1.5.4 – Choose a favorite Part of an artwork and discuss choice.
4. Worksheets being used Throughout this unit three different worksheets will be used. First we have one where the students have to match the shape to the color inside of it. Example: if the shape is a blue square then they would draw a line to the color blue. The second worksheet is where the students have to match the shape to the name of the shape. Example: a circle would have the students draw a line to the word circle. The final worksheet has the students matching colors. Example: if the color is pink they will draw a line to the color pink.
5. Smart Board Activity The objective of this activity for the students to be able to match the shapes. When they match the correct shapes together a check will appear and when the shapes or incorrect an x will appear.
6. Red + Blue = Purple Yellow + Blue = Green Red + White = Pink Mixing Colors
