Umairah Najihah
Topic / Theme
• Topic
Unit 12 Good Values (Year 4)
• Theme
World of Self, Family and Friends
a. Hopes and dreams
• Merida is a different kind of princess; she’s not girlish, full of
ethics nor achieve the Queen’s expectation of her being a
royal heir.
• She managed to prove that happiness is the outcome of a
person being oneself, not pretending to be good in order to
fulfill the other’s expectation.
b. Forming moral judgments
• Each children should be treated equally; boys can do
whatever they wants, so do girls.
• How do we manage a misunderstanding with parents? Rebel
or Obey? Negotiate?
• Parent’s love is unconditional
• Every problem has a solution. We just need to make some
effort to solve it, rather than being the emotivist.
c. Stimulating mental processes
(HOTS)
• Is there any other way to make the parents accept Merida’s
stance without any help from the mysterious spirit?
• What if Merida’s father is a common royal king?
• Is it appropriate for a daughter to change the biological
mother into other living creature?
d. Affecting their personalities
• Sense of empathy; feel different from the rest
• Inspire children to be brave in facing any challenges
• Develop high self-esteem in the high-anxiety-children
Story #2
Parable of the Pencil
Florence Sendie
What is “parable”?
• A short narrative using metaphor and symbolism to
illustrate a moral point.
• Largely religious in nature.
• Nevertheless, some, such as those used by Socrates and other
Greek thinkers of the 5th century B.C. on, appear in a
philosophical or other secular context.
Parable of the Pencil
Before the Pencil Maker put the pencil in the box, he said that
there are five things that the pencil can do:
1. You will be able to do many great things, but only if you
allow yourself to be held in someone’s hand.
2. You will experience a painful sharpening from time to
time, but you’ll need it to become a better pencil.
3. You will be able to correct any mistakes you might make.
4. The most important part of you will always be what's
inside.
Parable of the Pencil
5. On every surface you are used on, you must leave your
mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to
write.
Topic / Theme
• Topic
a. Unit 12 Good Values (Year 4)
b. Unit 15 Real-life Heroes (Year 5)

• They are capable of building their own potential.
• Individual differences.
b. Forming moral judgements
“Allow this parable on the pencil to encourage you to know
that you are a special person and only you can fulfill the
purpose to which you were born to accomplish.”
• They believes in themselves.
• Self-esteem, self-confidence & self-efficacy.
c. Stimulating mental processes
(HOTS)
“Now replacing the place of the pencil with you. Always
remember them and never forget, and you will become the
best person you can be.”
• Be in the position of the pencil.
• Use abstract thinking.
• Use comparison.
d. Affecting their personalities

Never allow yourself to get discouraged and think that your
life is insignificant and cannot make a change.
• Be themselves.
• Every child is unique and special.

b. ”I’ve always wanted to have a friend”.

Corduroy did not just grieve for Lisa’s mother rejection,
instead he went and look for his lost button on his own so that
someone will not reject him anymore after that.
c. Stimulating mental processes
(HOTS)

with the things that he always ever wanted?
