Loans and renewals are processed
in the ALEPH system …
so you need to open ALEPH

6. Go to the Libraries web site:
http://www.lib.uct.ac.za

7. Open the Libraries web site:
http://www.lib.uct.ac.za
Click on
Catalogue (ALEPH)

8. When ALEPH opens,
click on Sign-in

Log in using your
student / staff number
and your ALEPH
password

and your ALEPH

Your default ALEPH
password is your date
of birth in the format
YYYYMMDD

11. This will take you to your
personal account in
ALEPH: My Library Card

12. This will take you to your
personal account in
ALEPH: My Library Card
My Library Card
provides links to:
 a list of the books you
have on loan
 a list of your previous
loans (Loan History)
 a list of the books you
have requested
 your fines, etc.

13. Click on Loans to
see what books you
have out

14. Once you get the list,
you can renew all your
books at once by
clicking on Renew All

15. Or you can renew a
specific book by clicking
on its number in the list

16. Then click on Renew to
extend your loan period
for that book

17. And remember to sign
out by clicking on
End Session
