Executive Summary
This Presentation tries to find relevant answers to the questions raised by
GruBox Challenge Document. In order to transform the current shopping
experience from being linear to a rich and more engaging activities for the
targeted Player types (customer segments), we aim to solve different problems
with the Octalysis Design Process while taking into account the constraints of
the project. To add more social interactions and foster the development of a
large community around the brand, we decided to incentivize and encourage
collective actions and community support on top of a thick layer of
thankfulness. Another issue we tried to address with this design is the lack of
progression in the Customer Experience. For us it is important to implement a
loyalty program that empower customers as they progress in their journey
with the Brand. Giving to Endgame users the ability to refer and mentor new
users in order to help them become power users is the solution we choose to
keep the whole experience coherent and harmonious. In the same vein, helping
Grubox long term users to build healthy eating habits and lifestyle became
obvious because GruBox is a data-driven company. Being able to use data to
give relevant insights to customers and make personalized recommendations is
key to help build these healthy habits and increase their Lifetime Value. All
these solutions will contribute to bridge the engagement gap and solve the
« chicken and egg » problem that Grubox could face with its growing network of
machines, partners and customers in different cities across India.
What differentiate our approach is the use of Collectables (GruBox TCG) as fun
loyalty cards that serve users in their shopping activities as well as in his daily
life within the community.

GruBox Scavenger
Hunt

Players will download the GruBox App and register, then they can connect to GruBoxes by scanning the QR Code before
shaking their phones when they will be prompted by the App system. Timing is key to win. If the timing is correct, they get
a Random Reward that vary in probability from GruBox TCG Energy cards to Discounts. They can only get stuffs low
discounts and Virtual Goods. However, they can shake a Grubox once a day and will have to wait the until the next day if
they reach the limit of 3 shakes (Torture Breaks).
GruBox Shaker CD4 CD6
Players will download the App and register, then they will start pinning GruBoxes they discover on the dedicated map with
a photo of the GruBox if they are the first to discover. The first person to make a discovery get a reward (Giveaway or
Discount). The 10 first players who come after get points if they order at this machine (this rule allows verification). The
Map is crowdsourced and each player access freely to the information (GruBox locations). The Best Explorers get Sudden
Rewards (Giveaways and big Discounts).
GruBox Explorer CD4 CD7
In the onboarding, the players will be introduced and guided by Haiya, the GruBox Mascot (Glowing Choice). She will help
them learn about the ressources and the games step by step through compelling stories about Mythic Heros and Creatures
(Yana and company). This narrative is most likely to appeal to Player Type 3. It connects all the games and create smooth
transitions between different mechanics all along the players journey. Hiya act as a Personal Assistant for players via a
conversation bubble. She gives Sudden Tips and reminders. It also introduce the Trading Cards Game.
Narrative CD1 CD2
Held online, this scavenger hunt would consist in finding specific signs on product shots on GruBox Online Store and
Application Shop. Over time, participants will collect different pieces of a code that is renewed each mount. The first
contender to assemble the code of the month unlock the Treasure Box. The Treasure Box contains free movie tickets
or/and Giveaways. The code will be sent via a tagged post on GruBox facebook page. Sudden rewards (incentive prizes)
will be given to some of those who unsucessfully attempted within a month with no winner (following a lotery system.)
Khushee (means happiness in Hindi) is a virtual currency that is central to the in-game virtual economy. It can be obtained
through various Desired Actions like Ordering, Sharing with friends, Mentoring and support (gift for good referral),
subscribing and winning auctions. Khushees are also used as status points for micro-leaderboards and league ranking or
Special-Energy for the GruBox TCG.

Tipping System CD3 CD5 CD2
Players who are on GruBox Explorer can also use the App to suggest new locations by pinning the map with a dedicated
icon. They can continue to do so if their suggestions get more endorsements. If not they loose their ability over time. The
best at playing this game could be sourced to become GruBox Agents or Ambassadors. They benefit from Sudden Rewards
+ Khushees in the best case.
Bandwagon Extension CD3 CD2
Each day, a different discounted product is displayed on Grubox shops. Players can choose to take advantage of it now or
delay their orders and pay more tomorrow. These offers display Countdown Timers. They may also want to avoid missing
out daily good deals (FOMO)
Daily Deal System CD6 CD7 CD8
This is a streak design require users to order everyday at least once to keep their discount rate ramping up in the course of
the month. Each day from the first day of the month to the last, they get +1% discount on all the products (Streak Ramp-
Up). But if they miss one day, they loose all the extra percentages they gain over time. If they ever hit 100 orders in a month,
the streak turns into a Streak Ramp-Down forever (-1 for each missing day instead of loosing all the benefits at once) and
5% permanent discount. This part is a Bootleg Quest.
Candles CD1 CD2
In one hand, the Tipping System consist of allocating Kushees to players who give support for issues with GruBox products
and Applications, or make the best suggestions for locations and App/products/services upgrades. These tips are gifts from
other users. In the other hand, Players who are first to like the best suggestions (insightful tipping) get tips from GruBox
moderators (Bandwagon streak). However tippers are only allowed for 3 tipping a day (Magnetic Cap). A dedicated
facebook group will be created for this purpose. To ask for support, users can use mentions to call on mentors and friends.
It is a Moodboard that let the users select their prefered products in Grubox Catalog as input and outputs a personalized
prediction of their mood in the day (based on their purchase history and their social media data, and others). They can
choose to publish it in their stories on social medias). This gives more visibility and awarness to GruBox Brand and products.

This challenge will be held on social media where users and other people are asked to share a creative and fun photo
captured next to a GruBox (on the same photograph) whith #HappyBox and mention @GruBox. Those who already register
in the App will get mystery Boxes in their HappyBox (Weekly Achievement Chest). But most importantly, a significant
Donation will be made to a chosen Charity if they reach 1 Million photos posted (reasonable). At the same time people
are invited to vote for Causes they wish the donation wll be made. Countdown Timer and Progress Bar will be displayed.

Aside of the advanced leaderbords (micro-leaderboards design with focus on making users feel great). Players will be
ranked leagues based on their Khushee collect. These may fall from their current league status if they get surpassed by
trailing players. Each league rank is associated with a common discount rate on their 3 preferred products for all players.
And it ramps up as Players reach the higher leagues. Once players reach the highest league (master khushee league) they
secure a permanent 15% Discount even if they fall back.
League Ranking CD2 CD4
This is a mechanic that is attached to the wallet and gives players the opportunity to get high compound interests rate by
winning auctions as GruBox philanthropists. Collecting Paintings from the Auction side helps increase compound interests
rate and complete Yana’s story plot. But in order to get the benefits of the coumpound interests rate, players must budget
and actually spend up to the goal set within 30 days (Hunter’s mark). They also get an estimate on a graph function of the
goal they set. This estimate extend to several months later based on the current goal set (Oracle Effect)
The Dibba
CD4 CD2
Box Time is a mechanic that leverage Coundown Timer to offer personalized limited time discount for players in a specific
slot of time (in general during their Breaks). It may induce Appointment Dynamics. This time can be extended by collecting
items in the TCG or simply taking advantage of it more often by ordering in these periods. The Players are also encouraged
to share the benefits of their time with others (colleague etc.) by proposing to buy for them at this interesting discount
price (Aura effect).
Blue Candle
Challenges
1- This is a Group Quest that consist of keeping the lights on in the GruBox (for offices). If 75% of the GruBox App holders in
the building make a purchase, 15% discount is unlocked on this machine for everybody. To maintain the discount, a
purchase should be made every hour. 2- The Lights in the gruBox start flickering (simulating a candle light) when there is
not enough purchases made (1/h). The first to come and make an order gets a nice thank you display until the next order.
3- All the users of this machine that maintained their streak for a week can personalize the lights blinking when they order.

Your Box Time

GruBox Skipper CD2 CD4 CD5
Power Users can team Up with others to buy products as a Group (bulk orders). The larger the Group is, the lowest the
products prices. Each additional member contributes to increase the discount rate by 1%. The baseline discount is equal to
the highest permanent discount earned by one of the group members (usually the endgame user/mentor). The Groups can’t
get any bigger than 50 members and the discount cannot exceed 50%.
Team Up CD3 CD2
GruBox skipper consist of placing the highest order on a machine before the end of the day. The Best skippers at the end of
the month gets the right to have a virtual plaque with a name on it that will last until the next « sweep » at the end of the
next month (take down). It can be played in a Guild (Team) or Solo. Those who remain best skippers on a specific machine
all along the year get their plaque on it forever (as long as they want). As new machines are installed, there will always be
machines (Houses) to conquer.
GruBox TCG
This Trading Card Game will provide collectables with variable Discount codes embedded (collection set/prize pacing). This
game drives also uncertainty about what card the Player will earn next to biuld his deck (Random rewards) and cards will be
placed sometimes in unexpected activities to reward users who are more commited (Easter Eggs). As the Players build their
decks, they will have to adapt their strategies to win over more powerful hungers and Bosses (Chain Combos/Synergy). In
Raid Mode players have to play in a time to defeat Bosses (Group Quest). In Versus Mode, they get cards from others.

MVP
Nomination proposed to the customer who performs the best as mentor/Team leaders (top 25) and made the highest total
amount of orders on a specific machine within a week. Those who meet these criteria are given the right to submit for the
Title of Most Valuable Partner. Then, an anonymous vote is conducted tthrough the App to actually award the titles. The
winners get the right to choose a product on which GruBox will offer [XX]% off to everyone each day of this week on
these respective machines and promotions on the App. They also enter a lottery to win the Free Movie Tickets or to receive
a proposition to meet with GruBox Managers and Visit (Easter Egg).
