2. WHAT IS CLIMATE CHANGE
The Earthโs climate is changing in ways that you canโt easily see. The Earth is getting
warmer because people are adding heat-trapping gases to the atmosphere, mainly by
burning fossil fuels. These Gases are called greenhouse gases. Warmer temperatures
are causing other changes around the world, such as melting glaciers and stronger
storms etc.
3. CAUSES
Carbon dioxide and other air pollution that is collecting in the
atmosphere like a thickening blanket, trapping the sunโs heat and
causing the planet to warm up.
4. CONSEQUENCES
โข Warming and sea level rise will continue
and will probably occur more quickly
than weโve already seen
โข Even if greenhouse gases are stabilized,
this will probably continue to occur for
centuries
โข Side effects may be permanent, like :
- Coral systems cannot handle higher
temperatures well
- Wildfires will increase
- Up to 30% of species will be at
increased risk for extinction due to the
rapid changes in their ecosystems

โThis very
expensive GLOBAL
WARMING
Bullshit has got to
stop. Our planet is
freezing, record
low temps, and
our GW scientists
are stuck in ice.
Global warming is
expensive hoax!โ

โDo you feel guilty?โ
asked Horrison Ford.
If you know it and
you do it then you
feel guilty. If you do
not know it and you
do it and you correct
it when you know it,
then you donโt have
to be guilty.
Jim Inhofe
Senior United States
Senator and
Republican Party
"The claim that
global warming is
caused by man-made
emissions is simply
untrue and not based
on sound science.
C02 does not cause
catastrophic
disasters-actually it
would be benefitical
to our environment
and our economy."
Michael E. Mann
Climatologist and
Geophysicist
โThe Madhouse
effect: How climate
change denial is
threatening our
planet, destroying
our politics, and
driving us crazyโ
6. FACTORS
CAUSINGNatural Causes
โข The arctic tundra and
wetlands release methane,
a greenhouse gas
โข Earthnaturally has a cycle of
climate change that occurs
every 40, 000 years
โข The sunโs solar energy
output is changing and
naturally increases Earthโs
average temperature by
about 1 ยบC every century
โข Earthโs orbit and tilt alter in
relation to the sun, which
changes solar energy
output
Human Causes
โข Increasing green house gas emissions from
burning fossil fuels-oil, coal, gas
โข Pollution, smog from factories
โข Large forests have been cut down (trees
absorb CO 2 and pollution, deforestation
creates about 6 billion tons of CO 2 per
year)
โข Increasing world population-more people
requires more food, energy, transportation,
etc. Farms animals release methane from
their wastes.
โข More people also means more CO 2
production from respiration and less trees
to make room for human population
7. CONCLUSION
There are several types of options
โข Reduce emissions of greenhouse gases
โข Attempt to develop alternatives
energies
โข Allow emission to continue, but
prepare for global climate changes
โข Allow emissions to continue as normal
and leave preparations up to individual
countries
โข Combine any of these ideas
