already doesn’t have…”
“Worship is God coming to us (love, grace, law, truth,
forgiveness, guidance, peace, etc.)…
as we respond to God (faith, confession, gratitude,
wonder, joy, celebration.)”
“Worship: God is the object and the subject.”

worship: Old English; ‘worth’ ‘ship’;
reverent honor paid to God; (verb, noun)
Westminster Confession (AD 1647):
“The chief end of man is to glorify
God and enjoy Him forever.”

Intellectual worship…what we think...clear
understanding

Who? Lutherans; Reformed; Bible Churches
Special emphasis upon sanctuaries, pulpits,
evangelistic crusades, Bible studies; etc.
Increased attention to preaching, teaching,
parables, metaphors, symbols, stories.

Loving God with all of our soul.
Emotional worship…what we feel…powerful
emotions depth of faith.

Heightened awareness for Christian festivals,
tent meetings, revivals, etc.
Increased attention given to testimonies,
healing services, expressive singing; dancing;
speaking in tongues, etc.

Volitional worship…what we choose…concrete
decisions
