13. • With advances in information technology, the influence of
the media has broadened enormously. Today, many
children spend more time with media (such as
internet, mobile phones, television, and music) than they
do at school.
14. • Newspapers, television and radio stations often are
flooded with hundred of news releases each day. Only a
few manage to get incorporated into the main news. In
addition to the above tips on writing a press
release, other strategies to improve having a press
release noted by the media include the following.
• Faxing or e-mailing the news release to the appropriate channes.
A faxed or e-mailed news release stands a better chance of
coverage than a mailed news release. These methods convey a
greater sense of immediacy than mailing a release.
• Avoiding firing off release too frequently because there will be a
diminution of overall interest.
15. • Involve in-person interviews, usually with multiply
reporters representing multiple media agencies.
