2. Important Clarifications on the term “Cloud”
There is not one Cloud, it is like a real sky!
IaaS: Servers, Load balancers, storage, etc.
Without an system admin you are lost.
PaaS: Managed Environment for different proposes. Google Apps, Microsoft
Azure, Force.com,
Every tried to deploy your SAP installation on Azure? Support for your application
is required!
SaaS: Application Service Providing with a special purpose like Sales Force,
Microsoft Office 365
If you don’t find an application that is matching your requirements you have a
problem. You can’t change the feature set.

3. eZ Publish Cloud
What do we want to achieve with the eZ Publish Cloud?
We still want to use a full featured eZ Publish in different version (e.g. 4.7, 5, )
We want the freedom to create a customized solution
We don’t want to deal with nitty-gritty settings for Load Balancers, MySQL, eZ
Find, etc.
We need a stable and highly available platform.
We need performance if it comes to content delivery (e.g. CDN, Reverse
Proxies)
We need to build a PaaS

5. Myths and Truths about the eZ Cloud
What you can expect:
It is a production environment
There is an integrated staging environment
Automatic deployment mechanisms to install your code
What you will not find:
Development Environment to develop your solution
Testing tools for your installation
SSH or direct Database access

7. Is the cloud secure enough?
Yes, in most cases it is even more secure than a comparable installation
maintained by your hosting partner or yourself.
Hosting partner usually has not so much knowledge about the eZ application stack
as eZ and Ixonos together.
Patching eZ Publish, optimized settings for webserver and DB are a challenges if
you are not eZ Support or eZ Consulting
Automated and standardized deployments leading to less errors during
installations and therefore to a more secure system
Data privacy is harmonized across the EU, so no difference between hosting
in Germany or Finland.
Sometime size matters. The only thing that could give some kind of security
against DDoS attacks is size.
Choice of right partner is key for getting a secure solution

Thanks Michael. I think that most of you haven’t heard too much about the Ixonos before so it’s better to start with really short inroduction:I’m Simo Nurmi Head of, and I and Ixonos both are coming from Filnland. It’s up there. That cold place. Ixonos is a software development company which is delivering end to end experiences for product development or online business companiesWe can develop a physical mobile device and software services for that from our data centerWe have 800 people in 3 continents
In this presentations I will go from bottom to up to show you Ixonos responsibilitiesLet’s start with the data center and after that I will talk about software layer in our IaaS service called Ixonos Elastic Cloud.
Here are some numbers regarding our data center.
And major customers. These are all quite big players, of course we have lot lot more minor customers which haven’t outsourced major part of their infrastructure to u. They just running couple of servers for particular piece of software
