Project Description:
This is going to be the first edition of my music magazine ‘Theory’. The main
competition of my magazine is ‘Billboard’ as this is another music magazine that
covers the genre of pop and has a similar target audience to mine. My magazine
will have 80 pages as it comes out every 2 weeks. The 1st issue will contain a
Front Page, Contents Page and DPS, which is what I will focus on producing in
particular.
Photographer:
For my music magazine I am going to be the photographer, I will use different
shot types and angles throughout the pictures in my magazine. I am going to use
shots such as close ups and long shots. I will use close ups for specific artists and
details and I will use long shots for groups or bands and scenery. I will also use a
variety of angles, such as high angles for shots where for example the artist is
looking up at the camera, and low angles for shots where the artist is looking
down at the camera. I will mostly be using eye level angles as this makes the
reader feel like the artist is actually looking at them which makes it more
personal. My lighting will be high key (bright) as my magazine’s theme is bright
and bold so I want the pictures to fit this theme.
The denotation of the name of the magazine is ‘Theory’. I chose this title because
it is unique and it appeals to my target audience as it is sophisticated and my
target audience is girls aged between 14-30. Also, it is eye catching and the
bright colours make it stand out. The simple design helps it to be recognisable as
it is easy to remember.

Casting:
Reasons behind WHY these people are suitable – Who do they look like?
I chose to use Zoe Hickson for my music magazine as she looks like and has a
similar style to popular pop artists such as Pixie Lott and Ariana Grande. This
means she won’t look out of place on my front cover and she will suit it.
Model requirements:
The models must have the style of a pop music artist and must wear the suitable
clothing, make up and accessories that fit the style of a pop music artist. They
should be average height and may represent a casual look at times and a more
dressed up, smart look other times.
Wardrobe and Look:
Miley Cyrus is a current popular pop
artist, this fits with my genre for my
magazine.
My music magazine is targeted at
women and girls, therefore flowers
appeal to my target audience, along with
colours such as pink. A variety of pretty
pastel colours and bright and bold
colours will suit my target audience.

They should wear bold clothes as this fits with my theme of bold and bright for
my magazine. Also, they should wear the latest fashion that is not too unique as
my magazine is inspired by the latest pop artists. My source of inspiration behind
this choice of clothing is that it is the style of current pop artists such as Rita Ora.
Also, I will include a variety of jewellery from chunky gold necklaces to delicate
simple silver chains and bracelets and rings.
Hair and Make up:
I would use make up that is not too out there and unique as this would not fit
with my theme, however I will use make up that is on trend and occasionally a
bit bold so the artist stands out. The inspiration behind this choice of make up is
current pop artists and the artists featured in Billboard magazine.
This is an example of a
make up style that I would
not use for my music
magazine as it is much
more of an individual style
and wouldn’t fit into my
theme.
