2. Dear Delegates,
The role of green conferences has changed dramatically in the last few years. While the
movement for more environmentally friendly politics used to be only supported by under-
dogs, it has now made its way into mainstream politics, the media and the centre of society.
This causes the question for their necessity to arise: Do we really need another Think Green
event? But, just as back then, the only answer is a loud and clear: Yes!. Let me clarify why.
Like most problems, also environmental issues, need to be addressed in two steps. Firstly,
awareness needs to be created for the specific problem, a step that has been taken. But
recognising a difficulty is not enough. For that reason the second obligatory step is finding a
solution and implementing it. This is where we stand today. Yet, the long list of failed inter-
national climate conferences is proof enough for the inability of the international community
to work together.
Mr. Riaan Stipp, For that reason, I call out to the youth of Europe, not only to tell their politicians what is
President being done wrong, but actually to come to the Ukraine and to show, how it is done right.
I am very excited to welcoming you to Kyiv soon and seeing you prove that an interna-
tional cooperation is possible.
Sincerely,
Riaan Stipp
President of the Session
E
cological problems have been a matter of public concern for a long time.
Every year ecological issues become more and more serious and coping
with them is amongst highest priorities of international community. Eu-
rope is actively engaged in solving urgent problems of the environment,
moreover, some European countries give an outstanding example of
introducing the newest technologies and appropriate legislation for environmental
protection. Thus, the initiative young Europeans can’t but think green today.
The session’s aim is to engage young people in discussing ecological problems and seeking for their solu-
tions. The decisions made today are to determine for how long humanity will be able to make use of the natural
resources of our planet. Year 2012 is the milestone on the lifepath, for the way, in which we cope with today’s
ecological crisis, will affect the future of further generations. Thus European youth is eager to discuss the prob-

But we know for sure that every ending
has to be done in style. This time - in
Soviet style.
No one can deny that the end of So-

generations. Yet, they survived it and have built a bet-
