2. How do we create an Identity? Avowal – occurs when we decide what constitutes our identity. We have a picture of who we think we are and try to become that. I picture myself as an active person who loves to do extreme sports. So I make sure I stay active in extreme sports.

3. How do we create an identity? Ascription – This occurs when people tell you what you should be. This is when they expect you to be a certain way that they see in you. If your actions are not what is expected, confusion will occur. They will assign some quality or a character to you

4. Two different types of ascription Reactive This is when someone is personally assuming an identity because of a role you have. Example-Because I'm a fire fighter I'm expected to look like one with a crew cut hair cut and a mustache. I don’t look the part at all Proactive This is when someone has assigned an identity, or pushes an identity by others based on what they expect from the role you have.

5. What is an idenititiy? Identity is created by the development of the self we see in our self. We have many which are created and influenced by the society and dynamic we are raised in. We learn of our identity through communication We also express are identity through communication

6. List of what makes up our identity Gender- Male or Female Age- How old we are Race- Are we Caucasian, Hispanic, African American, Asian Physical Ability- The shape we are in, are we fit or out of shape? Religion- Do we believe in anything. Personality-It is a combination of emotional, and behavioral response of an individual.

7. In class we went over different identities one can have. It opened my eyes up to my own identities. Here I will show you some of my own

8. I didn’t come from a family with a lot of money. The one thing we always had and did was going wakeboarding since I was nine. It is my favorite extreme sport.

9. Skateboarding is another identity I find in my self I associate with them on a daily basis.

10. I am a United States Wild land Firefighter. I hold strong to that identity. I may be a skateboarder but I'm also a proud firefighter

11. I find my self getting different identities tatted on me. I love the tattoo side of me, great way to express myself

12. This is a picture of me and my girlfriend at the Nut Cracker Ballet. Another identity I find in my self I love plays and shows.

13. My Grand parents were holocaust survivors. There both Jewish and I’m bar mitzad so I have a Jewish identity.

14. This is a picture of Empire ranch golf coarse. I have been golfing for years and I absolutely love it. I can enjoy a beautiful day on the coarse and think of nothing but how nice it really is to be playing

15. All the identities you can have In this class I have learned that we have so many different identities. I wakeboard, skateboard, snowboard, golf , I'm vary family oriented. So I hope this power point has given you a different look at all my different identities

16. Snowboarding is big part of my identity. I moved to South Lake Tahoe so I could ride and be on the MT. as much as possible.
