Key Terms
A RATIO: is an ordered pair of non-negative numbers,
which are not both zero.
âą A ratio is denoted A:B to indicate the order of the
numbers.
âą The number A is first the number B is second.
âą Two ratio's A:B and C:D are equivalent if there is a
number, c, such that C = cA and D = cB
An example of a ratio of two quantities could
be the following: 5 miles per 2 hours
We can re-write this ratio as a rate: 2.5 miles per hour
We can re-write this rate as a unit rate: 2.5

second!â Is your classmate correct, and how do you
know?
2. After seeing this video, another dog owner trained
his dog, Lightning, to try to break Tillmanâs
skateboarding record. Lightningâs fastest recorded
time was on a 75-meter stretch where it took him
15.5 seconds. Based on this data, did Lightning break
