• 2nd largest city in the Belgian province of East
Flanders with over 88,000 inhabitants.
• Social challenges: poor quality housing,
safety, integration, ageing, quality of life,
poverty and exclusion. Often arising from
these bottlenecks is loneliness.
• The two neighbourhoods in focus, Daenswijk
and Watertorenwijk, are both super-diverse
and dense with many elderly and vulnerable
people.
• One park per neighborhood

the project
• A plug-in network to alleviate disconnection in the
neighborhood
• A solution manual for fighting loneliness with the help of
nature
• A website to function as an open resource for likeminded
future projects
