Cows are milked on farms and the raw milk is cooled and stored in tanks. It is then transported to a milk processing plant. At the plant, the milk passes through clarification to remove impurities. It is then pasteurized by heating to 72°C to kill bacteria, homogenized by breaking up fat particles, and fortified with vitamins A and D. Finally, the milk is packaged into containers like cartons or bottles and delivered to stores.
