Global warming is on an all-time high and it is high time for the manufacturing companies to quickly undertake environmental scanning before rolling out their next products.
This slide deck gives an overview about zNose – a solid state integrating GC detector and an SAW mass detector. With zNose companies can undertake air, water and soil analysis alongside odor management.
The slide covers the following things:
*The advantages of using zNose instead of using the traditional eNose.
*Ways by which zNose works for environmental scanning.
*Key environmental testing use-cases of zNose
*And at the end a measurement of a mixture of BTEX and so much more.

A typical zNose® measurement of a mixture of BTEX
A tedlar bag is filled with a known concentration of
benzene-toluene-ethylbenzene-Xylene (BTEX) vapor
As GC/SAW can separate and speciate the individual
analytes, calibration can be performed using a
single measurement of a mixture of standard
analyte concentrations
The measurement reveals the following results -
•the lower trace shows the frequency of the SAW detector
•the upper trace displays the derivative of frequency.

A series of seven identical
measurements were performed on a
tedlar bag containing a concentration of
BTEX vapors spanning 182-364 ppb
Key Observations of these analysis were:
• For toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene the MDLs
were less then 10 ppb.
• For benzene, the MDL was approximately 20 ppb.

zNose has its set of unique features and capabilities that we will be discussing in this video.
Let us start, with some unique features of E S T zNose.
Firstly, it recognizes odors and fragrances, based upon their full chemical signature.
Secondly, it detects all compounds within an odor, and provides a complete chemical profile.
Next, its software includes, an expandable library of over 700 chemicals, and odor signatures allowing the zNose to recognize virtually any target odor.
With E S T zNose, using ultra high speed chromatography, to separate chemicals within an odor in near real time, pattern recognition and trace detection using virtual chemical sensors can be performed at the same time.
Trace detection combined with odor profiling can be an effective method for recognizing the presence of contraband material of all kinds.
Finally, it also adapts and learns to recognize the chemical signature of virtually any threat.
Electronic Sensor Technology, has developed and patented, a breakthrough electronic nose technology, trademarked zNose, which complements existing security systems, and eliminates the vulnerabilities associated with current trace, and x-ray detection systems.
