What’s at Stake for Businesses
Whether companies are building their own en-
terprise app stores or investing in commercial
offerings such as AppWave, much is at stake
when it comes to deploying and using these
solutions.
Applications run businesses and are at the core of many busi-
ness processes. Enabling apps to be more easily managed
and delivered to users can help companies improve processes,
increase sales and enhance customer service, among other
benefits. If companies are unable to deliver apps quickly and
efficiently to users, they might miss out on market opportunities
and fail to serve customers optimally. If they can’t manage how
apps and licenses are distributed, they might see huge over-
spending on software.
Choosing the right enterprise app store can lead to increased
agility by allowing users to access and run the apps they need
when they need them, not months too late. It can result in
increased productivity by drastically reducing the time it takes

Exploring the Enterprise App Store Landscape
As employees s increasingly use tablet computers, smart
phones and other devices at home, the pressure is on for en-
terprises to deliver the same ease of use and instant gratifica-
tion experience for desktop users.
An ever-growing number of enterprise app stores are springing
up, many designed for the “bring your own device” trend to
secure mobile applications . But the vast majority of organiza-
tions are still relying heavily on desktop and laptop computers
for the day-to-day use of critical business applications.
It’s no secret that application deployment for PC applications
is too slow. Productivity suffers because people can’t get the
applications they need fast
enough, or because they’re
spending too much time
trying to find the right ap-
plication for their job and
then reallocating licenses within the company, or procuring new
ones. Organizational challenges around application manage-
ment and deployment are plentiful: lack of visibility into what’s
being used, disparate applications within workgroups and
departments, excessive efforts to support legacy and in-house
applications.
Businesses today have access to a wealth of ap-
plications that can help workers more efficiently
and effectively do their jobs, serve customers
and collaborate with colleagues. The challenge
for organizations is getting these applications
to the right people as quickly as possible.
