I. Library Link Session on Reflection (IB Learner Profile/ATL Skill) and the Research Model
II. Concepts
At the end of the session students get away with these ideas: 1) Reflection, the continuous and
consistent practice of it, leads to effective action and intellectual growth; 2) Research is cyclical.
Following a research model helps in the efficient completion of the cycle.
III. Experience
Video Clip: The Lion King - Simba decides to go back to Pride Rock and rectify his mistake.
With some help from Rafiki, he first reflected on the past before embracing the opportunity of
change and redemption.

Procedure:
a. Teacher Librarian distributes handout on Reflection (Hedges, 2012): TOK Mock ESSAY
b. As a group, list down areas for improvement and strong points.
c. Something to think about: How might you change the way you worked on your TOK Mock
Essay?
d. Discussion on Research as a cycle (pdf) and research model: The Big 6 (pdf)
e. Distribute The Big 6 Guide to Research and Solving Information Problems (bound pdf)
f. Show examples of other research models. Different strokes for different folks, but the end is
the same.
