ENG 091 Research Project
Part One: Research
You must read at least 1 book source (if not theentire book, at least a related chapter), and 3
RELIABLE electronic resources (see chapter 7).
For each source, write a summary of the main points. You will use the “Source Sheet” I have
handed out to you. Make sure you also get the appropriate information necessary for the citation, as
you will use that information to create the bibliography.
Part Two: Project
Choice One: Paper. You can write a 4-5 page paper that teaches your topic. You must have an
introduction, a main idea (thesis statement), a body with relevent details, and a conclusion. Be careful to
cite your sources appropriately, plagiarism will result in a zero grade. If you use an author’s words or
even paraphrase an author’s ides, cite. When in doubt, cite. This webpage will be helpful for citations:
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/557/03/
Choice Two: Presentation. You can teach your findings to the class in a ten-minute presentation.
If you choose this project, make sure to have a visual as a teaching tool. This visual can be a poster, a
PowerPoint, or a video. Again, if you refer to findings from an article, make sure to cite it properly.
Copied visuals must be cited.
For both choices, you must write a bibliography in MLA format. You may find this website
helpful:
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/05/’
Part Three: Reflection
You must a write a one-page paper that reflects on your research process and how this class has
helped you. The paper should:
- Describe what you did to find souces. Did you discard any sources as irrelevent or
unreliable?
- Explain the most difficult part of the project for you and why it was difficult.
- Describe what you learned from doing this project (about content and/ or research).
- Explain how these skills will help you meet future goals.
Source Sheet
Fill this out for each source. You may use additional paper if needed/ desired.
