How iZone Benefits Schools and Students
1.
2. Principal Erica Zigelman's career in
education comprises more than 40 years of
expertise. She earned her bachelor of
science in music education at New York
University before going on to complete a
master of arts in interrelated arts and
education. Since joining the administrative
staff of Middle School 322 as its principal in
2005, Erica Zigelman has improved the
school through such initiatives as the iZone
grant.
3. During the 2011/2012 school year, MS322
received a grant from iZone, an institution
that provides New York City educators with
the resources they need to meet the needs
of their students. Educators and
administrators alike can harness the
organization’s resources to give their
students opportunities that go beyond the
classroom and prepare them for success in
college and their careers.
4. iZone works to achieve its goals in several
ways. The organization's Innovate NYC
Schools program gives educators and tech-
startup entrepreneurs the chance to put
their heads together and learn more about
each other's fields and projects. Together,
these teachers and tech-savvy specialists
can work together to solve the problems
plaguing education.
5. In another instance of cutting-edge
technology complementing time-honored
methods of education, iZone's iLearning
program blends online and classroom
teaching. To date, more than 300,000
students in NYC are engaging with online
content, enabling them to become even
more comfortable with information
technology and to control the pace and
means of their own learning.
