title overall. The second graph shows
compensation by gender, with most of the
respondents not choosing to specify their
gender. As a result, the breakdown shows an
unbalanced ratio based on overall totals.
However, of those who did identify as
Female, it is consistent with the national trend
of women making approx. 30%+ less
compared to their male counterparts.

Girl Develop It is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides affordable and
judgment-free opportunities for adult women interested in learning web and software development
through accessible in-person programs. Through welcoming, low-cost classes, GDI helps women
of diverse backgrounds achieve their technology goals and build confidence in their careers and
their everyday lives.
CHAPTERS

There have been over 1,100 free community
events and the chapters boast nearly 60K
members.
EDUCATION
There have been over 1,400 classes taught by
highly skilled men and women, with classes
averaging only about $50 a class.

$53 GDI empowers more than 1,000 students a month with
technology skills and that number continues to rise. As
they progress, they become mentors and teachers,
changing the tech culture one city at a time.
There are over 57 cities now active with
over 200 chapter leaders and volunteers.
Since the organization's founding in 2010, Girl Develop It has led the nationwide movement to provide women with avenues to participate in
the technology industry today. Now in 57 cities across the US, GDI currently supports 91,000 students with technical skills and community
support, and empowers more than 2,300 students per month!

  • 3. These graphs show results for Houston, Texas as of October 13, 2017. The first graph shows the breakdown by job title overall. The second graph shows compensation by gender, with most of the respondents not choosing to specify their gender. As a result, the breakdown shows an unbalanced ratio based on overall totals. However, of those who did identify as Female, it is consistent with the national trend of women making approx. 30%+ less compared to their male counterparts.   • 5. Women in Technology survey respondents (men and women) reported a scarcity of formal programs to promote women in technology. For the past 2 years, nearly 80% of represented employers did not offer any programs. MENTORS AND TRAINING ARE KEY Especially for adult women of all ages, staying on top of technical skills and connecting with women and men to mentor and support are the key factors to promoting real gender equality in Tech. Groups like Girl Develop It, Black Girls Code, Girls Who Code, and Grace Hopper Institute fill this the training gap. Girl Develop It is a national 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides affordable and judgment-free opportunities for adult women interested in learning web and software development through accessible in-person programs. Through welcoming, low-cost classes, GDI helps women of diverse backgrounds achieve their technology goals and build confidence in their careers and their everyday lives.
  • 8. CHAPTERS COMMUNITY There have been over 1,100 free community events and the chapters boast nearly 60K members. EDUCATION There have been over 1,400 classes taught by highly skilled men and women, with classes averaging only about $50 a class. GIRL DEVELOP IT NATIONWIDE 57 60K $53 GDI empowers more than 1,000 students a month with technology skills and that number continues to rise. As they progress, they become mentors and teachers, changing the tech culture one city at a time. There are over 57 cities now active with over 200 chapter leaders and volunteers.
  • 9. Since the organization's founding in 2010, Girl Develop It has led the nationwide movement to provide women with avenues to participate in the technology industry today.
