Pre-Listening
A. Discuss the five elements of music.
1. Rhythm
This elements refers to the property that arises from
comparison of the relative durations and accents of sounds; a
particular arrangement of durations and accents.
2. Melody
It refers to the pleasing, agreeable sound arising from an
arrangement of such sounds, a succession of tones
constituting in combination, a whole
3. Tone
This refers to the quality of having a definite pitch, loudness,
and timbre – the tone and color of a sound.
4. Note
It is a written character used to indicate the pitch and length of
a tone
5. Harmony
It refers to any agreeable combination or a succession of
groups of tones that sound simultaneously in music.
B. The teacher will show some pictures of a father and son.
What can you say about the pictures?
While Listening
A. The students will listen twice to the song, Father and Son by
Cat Stevens which will be played by the teacher.
While listening, write down key words that will help you determine
the main idea.
Post Listening
A. Directions: Supply the missing words in the song.

symbol. Do this on a sheet of bond paper.

  • 2. II. SUBJECT MATTER A. Topic: Conveying the message of a song. B. Reference: English Expressway III TX, pp. 162-163 C. Materials: Cut outs, Visual Aids, Overhead Projector D. Values: Obedience, Love and Respect

  • 4. a. Checking of Attendance Who is absent today? All are present today Ma’am. B. Presentation of the Lesson a. Motive Question Do you have a favorite song? How does it affect you? b. Who among you here can share his/her favorite song and sing it for us? C. Discussion Pre-Listening A. Discuss the five elements of music. 1. Rhythm This elements refers to the property that arises from comparison of the relative durations and accents of sounds; a particular arrangement of durations and accents.
  • 5. 2. Melody It refers to the pleasing, agreeable sound arising from an arrangement of such sounds, a succession of tones constituting in combination, a whole 3. Tone This refers to the quality of having a definite pitch, loudness, and timbre – the tone and color of a sound. 4. Note It is a written character used to indicate the pitch and length of a tone 5. Harmony It refers to any agreeable combination or a succession of groups of tones that sound simultaneously in music. B. The teacher will show some pictures of a father and son. What can you say about the pictures? While Listening A. The students will listen twice to the song, Father and Son by Cat Stevens which will be played by the teacher. While listening, write down key words that will help you determine the main idea.

Evaluation Directions: The students will be grouped into five. Draw s symbol that conveys the message of the song. Explain why you came up such a symbol. Do this on a sheet of bond paper. IV. Assignment Write a paragraph about your feeling and attitudes toward your father in 1 whole sheet of paper. D. Evaluation Directions: The students will be grouped into five.
