produites.

Abstract
Spirulina is an exceptional natural product, having multiple utilities in food sciences,
medicine, ecology and biotechnology. The effects of its consumption on human and
animal health were already shown but it is rather a food complement than a basic
food. It could thus be used like an ameliorative element of the provendes to optimize
the livestock production. This study aims at determining the influence of the
incorporation of the Spirulina in the provendes on the growth of table fowls. The
Spirulina comes from the production of Dr. RAMAMPIHERIKA Kotonirina in
Toliara. The enriched commercial provendes are manufactured by the company
AVITECH SA, which also provided 175 chickens of race STARBO for the
experimentation. The amounts of incorporations tested are 0,0 mg/kg, 50,0 mg/kg
and 100,0 mg/kg of live weight. The experimentation was led in a farm of
Anjomakely, Antananarivo during the phase of growth and the completion of table
fowls. The studied parameters are the Daily Average Growth, the specific growth
rate, the output of the production and the emancipation of the animal. The results
were treated by the Excel STATITCF and MICROSTA softwares. The amount of
100 mg/kg of live weight gave the maximum of total productivity: + 11.4 %, even +
15.1% with certain animals while the half dose of 50 mg/kg is better during the phase
of growth. No animal could reach the theoretical performance of the race but
approaches the witnesses. But the consumption of Spirulina modified the
development of the various parts of the body of the animal, especially the parts
“noble” very required like the breastbone, the back and the thigh. The incorporation
of the Spirulina improved nutritional quality and the biological effectiveness of the
provendes. However this study must be supplemented by a sensory quality
evaluation of the produced meats.
