As an extension of acquisition to support government programs, eProcurement supports two objectives. eProcurement But the strategies involved may require a political approach. Functional Technological Each requires improved performance. In times of economic crisis, attention must be paid to greater efficiency as well as improving government performance and private sector economic recovery. Interoperability Mechanisms offer a realistic path.
Political Drivers ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object],Interoperability is an objective for shared common solutions within or across European state boundaries in seeking greater commonality and cohesion. Technology standard operations for eProcurement allow for smooth interaction between suppliers and government programs.
What drives the Drivers? ,[object Object],For procurement (in any form), the economy is the driver. Stewardship provided by government serves the interests of both public and private sectors.
Focus of Stewardship ,[object Object],Beware hidden relationships between public and private sector players, at levels above procurement. Marketplace competition reduces costs of products and services. Open procurement processes, and ease of access to opportunities, promote business efficiencies. Gained procurement efficiencies reduce cost to government, and relaxes pressure of taxes on the public. Standard operations for procurement facilitates money transfer.
