1 Initial Greetings
1.1 Head of the host NF
First of all, as the president of Chinese Karate Association, I
would like to extend my warmest greeting to all of you. I truly
see it as the greatest privilege of us to host WKF K1 Series A in
Shanghai, since this is the first time that Premier League event
lands in China. The host of this tournament is the highest compliment and praise of
what we have achieved on advancing the development of karate in China.
Thanks to the remarkable efforts of WKF and all NFs, karate will feature in the Olympic
Games Tokyo 2020, which is significantly honour for our karate family. Qualification
points for the Olympics will be awarded in this event, therefore I sincerely wish all
members of WKF will enjoy this thriving competition in the spirit of Olympics.

2 Introduction
The WKF Karate 1-Series A is a world-class competition that provides karatekas around
the world with more competitive opportunities to shine at the highest level. Presented
in an open format thus allowing every athlete in the world to compete, the Karate 1-
Series A is framed under the umbrella of the Karate 1 to bring together the best
competitors in a series of open championships of unprecedented scale and quality. In
addition to this, the Karate 1-Series A offers karatekas the chance to increase their
ranking position as the universality of top Karate tournaments is showcased.
While maintaining the individual character of each event, all Series A events have to
meet certain standards in order to achieve the above-mentioned goals. Therefore, it is
necessary to follow these organising rules:

The number of competitors is open. All members of WKF are admitted to participate.
The competition categories are identical to those of Senior World
Championships except for Kumite team.

guarantee the correct delivery of the event, and to ensure the suitable quality of the

KARATEGIS WITH THE BRAND EMBROIDERED ON THE

The Karategis with the embroidered brand of the manufacturer on the
shoulders will be accepted for use in the Premier League by those
competitors who wish to do so, both for Kata and Kumite in red or blue

The gymnasium of Shanghai University of Finance and Economics is a new
stadium that was built in 2017. It covers an area of 19,730 square meters with
more than 3000 fixed seats and 2000 mobile seats. The stadium has been
hosted many competitions and events successfully and has served as a
landmark of cultural and sport activity in Wujiaochang University District. In
2018, the stadium has hosted many international and home events and
cultural exchange activities. It has been praised for its advanced facilities and
outstanding environment.

The official registration session will take place on [Dec.6, 2018] from 10.00 a.m. to
8.00 p.m.
If changes are required during the official registration session because of incorrect or
missing registration data, a fee of € 20 is charged for each change.
At registration, accreditation cards will be issued with the participants’ main data, a
photograph and information about registered categories. The accreditation card must
be worn at all times during the event.
Only members of national federations recognized by WKF are admitted to
participate, following the registration procedures described in Series A Organising
Rules 2018 (SA OR Point 6 Registration).
All participants must submit an official document (passport or other valid
ID card) for the WKF identification and validation at the accreditation
session.
The accreditation of any competitor must be done by the athlete or the
athlete’s coach, in person bringing the athlete passport or other valid ID at
the accreditation session.
The competitor who has not collected, either personally or through his/her
coach the accreditation during the official registration, will not be included
in the draw.
The weighing will be carried out immediately after receiving the
accreditation, those athletes who will not attend the weighing will not be
included in the draw.

The entry fees are € 45 per individual category entry and € 70 per team category
entry.

All payments must be processed through the online payment platform. No onsite
payment will be accepted.

According to the Coach License Manual, the minimum level required to take part in the
Karate 1 events is the “Accredited Coach” level.

17 General Information
Local currency
The official currency is Renminbi (RMB), and it represents in￥.It is convenient to
exchange in airport and bank, and credit card is widely accepted by most large

Shanghai has a humid subtropical climate and experiences four distinct seasons.
