In 21st Century Education
Role in 21st Century Education
Technology and 21st Century Learning allows students to learn
mathematics and sciences from a more digitalized and technology
based form.
Definitions
• The ability to evaluate information based on its sources and the methods
used to generate it.
• Math in 21st Century Education
• Reason with numbers and other mathematical concepts
• Science in 21st Century Education
• Evaluate scientific arguments and apply conclusions
Example- Blowing Balloons
• Students will work in groups on this science experiment
• Students will use mathematic skills to measure 40 mL of water in a bottle
then to add a teaspoon of baking soda into bottle then stir
• The students then will group decided amount of lemon juice into the bottle
and quickly cover the top of the bottle with the balloon
• The group with the biggest balloon wins
Blogs
Students will work in groups to produce a blog on how they think
the experiment will turn out.
YouTube
Students will watch YouTube videos on the effects of baking soda
and lemon juice as well as the experiment

Students will also film their own experiment to put on YouTube
Podcasts
Students will record a podcast of their lab report
Pinterest
Students will then use Pinterest to look up other experiments using
baking soda

  • 1. Math and Science In 21st Century Education
  • 2. Role in 21st Century Education Technology and 21st Century Learning allows students to learn mathematics and sciences from a more digitalized and technology based form.
  • 3. Definitions • The ability to evaluate information based on its sources and the methods used to generate it. • Math in 21st Century Education • Reason with numbers and other mathematical concepts • Science in 21st Century Education • Evaluate scientific arguments and apply conclusions
  • 4. Example- Blowing Balloons • Students will work in groups on this science experiment • Students will use mathematic skills to measure 40 mL of water in a bottle then to add a teaspoon of baking soda into bottle then stir • The students then will group decided amount of lemon juice into the bottle and quickly cover the top of the bottle with the balloon • The group with the biggest balloon wins
  • 5. Blogs Students will work in groups to produce a blog on how they think the experiment will turn out.
  • 6. YouTube Students will watch YouTube videos on the effects of baking soda and lemon juice as well as the experiment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4meoFPPsaA Students will also film their own experiment to put on YouTube
  • 7. Podcasts Students will record a podcast of their lab report
  • 8. Pinterest Students will then use Pinterest to look up other experiments using baking soda
  • 9.
